With Chainsaw Man manga recently seeing Hirofumi Yoshida facing off against Chainsaw Man with the Octopus Devil, the manga fans were scared about the character's fate. This is because, given Pochita's rampage, there was no saying who the devil would kill next.

Unfortunately, fans' worries might have turned true with the manga's latest chapter. After Pochita erased the Ear Devil, Hirofumi Yoshida attacked Pochita with the Octopus Devil. Doing so, allowed him to force Pochita to barf out the Ear Devil, effectively restoring the sheer concept of ears.

Chainsaw Man chapter 174 hints at Hirofumi Yoshida's death

As seen in Chainsaw Man chapter 173, Hirofumi Yoshida used the Octopus Devil to constrict Pochita and have the devil vomit the Ear Devil. This, alongside the fact that the Aging Devil was seemingly allied with the humans, made it seem like the Public Safety had the advantage over the Chainsaw Devil.

However, the latest developments from Chainsaw Man chapter 174 saw Pochita turn the tables. This is because he not only erased the concept of octopi, but also mouths, snow, and bitterness, which effectively means that he devoured the respective devils.

Considering how Hirofumi Yoshida was the one who had a contract with the Octopus Devil, fans were left worried about his fate. This is because Pochita had erased four devil concepts from existence. Hence, there was no way that he failed to kill the Public Safety Officer standing in his way.

Therefore, there is a good chance that the Chainsaw Devil may have already killed Hirofumi Yoshida. The only positive fans have from the manga chapter is that the series has yet to confirm this either through its illustration or narration.

That said, Hirofumi Yoshida's death was foretold in a Tatsuki Fujimoto interview by Shihei Lin. During the interview, Fujimoto expressed that he was surprised to see that Hirofumi Yoshida ranked so high in the popularity polls. This is because he hadn't explored the character much.

At the time, both Fujimoto and Shihei Lin attributed his popularity to his sense of maturity and looks. But right after, Shihei Lin shared a comment that he had read online. One fan had asked Fujimoto not to make Yoshida too active in the story because that would spell doom for him.

As foretold, just as Hirofumi Yoshida was reintroduced to the story, his contracted devil was devoured by Pochita, suggesting that the Chainsaw Devil had also killed him. While there is still a chance that he hasn't died, with Pochita out on a rampage, one cannot guarantee his safety.

If it were some other manga, there would have been a small chance that the creator protected the character through some plot armor. However, as evident from the manga's first part, Tatsuki Fujimoto does not mind killing off the most important characters.
