Boruto Two Blue Vortex has redeemed the hype for the franchise which the prequel series failed to do. So far, the manga has only passed a few chapters, but these chapters have been a rollercoaster of emotions for the fans and the main characters.

In the sequel, the protagonist returned as a much stronger shinobi, Himawari awakened as the jinchuriki of the Nine-tails, among other things, indicating that the series could go down in history as one of the best ones. But despite all these, there is one character whose character development is still not worth his title as the series' main antagonist, and that is Code.

But his role could be much more important than anyone else as he was involved in the creation of the Ten-Tail Sentient God Trees. His life could be the one powering these God Trees, thus meaning that ending him would be the key to ending the God Trees.

Boruto Two Blue Vortex: Exploring Code's purpose in the plot

Boruto Two Blue Vortex commenced with Code attacking the Hidden Leaf Village looking for the protagonist after he was framed by Eida's Omnipotence and left the village. Despite looking for a long time, he couldn't find him and resorted to using Sarada to lure him out. As expected, the protagonist made an entry out of nowhere.

After a heated battle between these two, the protagonist utterly defeats the antagonist and he escapes using his Claw Marks. Unfortunately for him, a frog accompanied him and acted as a spy for the protagonist, confirming the presence of the Ten-tails.

The protagonist used Flying Raijin Jutsu to teleport to where the antagonist was standing. But as soon as he arrived, the Ten-tails was gone, which even surprised the antagonist. In reality, the Ten-tails had divided into 4 Sentient God Trees, each having a self-consciousness of their own.

After being overpowered by these heavenly beings one after the other and betrayed by the antagonist, the protagonist had to escape using Flying Raijin Jutsu. This was the last appearance of the antagonist in Boruto Two Blue Vortex so far, portraying him as a weak antagonist.

But this has been his character since the very start of the series because, unlike Isshiki or Momoshiki, he is not a proper Otsutsuki, and his power is limited, unlike the Otsutsuki clan members. But despite all this, the antagonist does play a vital role in the plotline of the series.

As explained by Jura after the Sentient God Trees awakened, they were born after the antagonist granted them self-conciousness. Although the antagonist was unaware of doing so, he could have done this instinctively. So, the antagonist is a key reason as to why these God Trees exist.

So, to defeat the God Trees, or at least transform them back into the form of a Ten-Tails Beast, the protagonist could need to kill Code as his Claw Marks were the reason behind the awakening of the Sentient God Trees. So, this could be the purpose of Code in the plotline, despite being one of the weakest antagonists in the media.
