Boruto fans are known for coming up with several fascinating theories, with many of them involving Code's origin. One of the main villains of the series, Code remains a mystery in the story even to this day, and this theory suggests that he could be connected to one of the main antagonists of the original Naruto manga, Nagato Uzumaki.

It is fair to say that this theory has a lot to cover, and could make or break Boruto in terms of the impact that it could have on the original series, but there is a degree of merit to this.

The main reason is how it could connect with the two protagonists of the franchise and the concept of the Child of Prophecy, which was introduced during Jiraiya's final moments in his battle with Pain, and referred to a student of his who was going to save or destroy the world.

Explaining how Code could be connected to Nagato Uzumaki in the Boruto series

The theory suggests that Code is a clone of Nagato Uzumaki and goes back to the fact that Amado wanted to take down Jigen, which is why Daemon, Eida, and Kashin Koji were created. Amado cloned Kashin Koji from Jiraiya's DNA since he knew he bore a strong fate, and while the series never explains how he got the material to make his clone, it points out that he knew the legendary Sannin, that he was Naruto's sensei, and a lot of other elements from the original series.

Since Amado was clinging to Jiraiya's fate and tried to replicate the Child of Prophecy, the theory points out that, at some moment in his life, he found Nagato's DNA and cloned him, believing that there could be two Children of Prophecy. And since he no longer needed Jigen to resurrect his daughter, Amado was focused on getting Code a karma.

However, Amado didn't count on the fact that Code would worship the Otsutsuki, thus switching his sight to Kawaki. This is how the events could have led to the current state of the series, although the variable of Eida's Omnipotence was something that wasn't on Amado's radar.

What this theory could mean moving forward

Boruto connecting Code to Nagato Uzumaki, and therefore to the two protagonists' clan, could have interesting ramifications for the franchise. It would connect the sequel to one of the story's most popular antagonists, but could also be considered as too much nostalgia at a time when this story needs to gain its own identity.

While Nagato does have a connection to Naruto by being blood-related, and to Jiraiya because he was the latter's student, it doesn't seem like a logical twist. Nagato has never been brought up in the sequel thus far, so connecting him to one of the series' main villains might make for a bizarre decision.

Final thoughts

There is a certain logic to the idea that Code could be Nagato Uzumaki's clone, which was the result of Amado's knowledge of Jiraiya and the latter's life. However, it wouldn't make sense to connect one of the series' main villains to one of the original story when Nagato has not been mentioned in this sequel.
