Brief episode recap

Dandadan episode 4 began with Momo and Okarun already at the Turbo Granny’s tunnel. After entering, they eventually ran into Turbo Granny, who had become massive and split herself into two entities. Each entity was blocking either end of the tunnel, trapping Okarun and Momo in the middle. Momo tried attacking with countermeasures she prepared, but they had no effect.

Okarun then transformed using Turbo Granny’s powers, but he suddenly reverted back to his base state without explanation. This prompted Turbo Granny to reveal she gave his privates back, which undid her curse and revoked his powers. As the two were about to be killed, Momo successfully taunted Turbo Granny into accepting a race by asserting she was scared she’d lose.

Dandadan episode 4 saw Turbo Granny take the bait, allowing Momo to establish the rules of their race. Momo called it a game of tag, with her and Okarun getting a ten-minute headstart to make it fair. However, Turbo Granny circumvented the headstart by counting to ten minutes in a unique and inaccurate way. This allowed her to trap Momo, and almost trap Okarun until he made a desperate attack on her.

Despite the graphic and unorthodox attack, it proved effective in having Turbo Granny take over Okarun’s body. This gave Momo the chance to restrict the Turbo Granny’s curse once again, yet much more effectively since Turbo Granny transferred her true form into Okarun. This prompted the appearance of the location-bound spirit, which was revealed to be a giant crab that began chasing after Okarun, Momo and Turbo Granny.

Dandadan episode 4 saw the spirit causing significant destruction as it chased after the trio. Okarun eventually decided to transform and go all out to escape, which bought them some temporary time as they headed to a metropolitan area. Unfortunately, the crab caught up to them shortly after, which forced them to race by other people. However, they were unable to see neither the crab nor Okarun’s transformed state.

Momo then instructed Okarun to enter a bathhouse-like building, believing that the crab wouldn’t be able to fit in the hallways. However, Momo was wrong, with the crab eventually cornering them. Thankfully, Momo recognized that they were at a hot spring, using the water to steam the crab and make it incapable of moving. The two then headed back outside, where they were confronted by a horde of people charging at them.

Dandadan episode 4 revealed that Turbo Granny and the spirit borrowed the powers of a nearby cemetery to transform living citizens into their puppets. Unfortunately, the crab also showed back up at that moment, prompting Momo to instruct Okarun to go all out once more. Despite the fact that it wouldn’t let them escape the city, she ordered him to do so anyway, so they didn’t die here if nothing else.

This prompted a race through the city which saw Okarun and Momo using their powers in tandem to make a getaway. For example, Momo would use her abilities to grab onto buildings and reorient their direction via their momentum, allowing Okarun to focus purely on going as fast as possible. She also used her abilities for defense as they were cornered by various enemies who tried to attack them.

Dandadan episode 4 saw the pair eventually land by a train track as Okarun returned to his base state. However, Momo noticed a train running on the track as they were falling to the ground, with her expression suggesting that she had an idea. However, Turbo Granny, the crab, and the horde of people caught up to them and seemingly cornered them.

Turbo Granny then merged with the crab spirit, telling Momo to run since she enjoys chasing her dinner and asking what she needed for a headstart this time. Momo responded that she only needed one second, with the train rolling by at that moment and Momo using her powers to grab onto it and escape with Okarun.

Dandadan episode 4 saw Turbo Granny jump on the track and eventually catch up to the train, seemingly foiling Momo’s plan. However, Momo revealed she lured Turbo Granny into a trap, revealing Seiko Ayase further down the track with barriers set up already. As the train crossed the barrier, Turbo Granny burst into what seemed like water bubbles, her body splitting up into the spirits of several young girls.

After reuniting with Seiko, she brought Momo and Okarun to Turbo Granny’s tunnel. She explained that the location was where young girls were abused and murdered, and that Turbo Granny stayed in this location to comfort and help them move on. These spirits were also implied to have eventually merged with Turbo Granny due to being unable to move on, hence their appearance upon her defeat.

Seiko then spoke generally on the rules humans and spirits must obey when dealing with each other before telling the others they should celebrate. After celebrating and eating together, Dandadan episode 4 saw Okarun head home and say goodbye to Momo, who did the same to him. The episode ended with each questioning what their goodbye meant before Momo called out and followed up by saying she’d see him tomorrow.
