Dandadan episode 5 is set to begin airing on local Japanese networks at 12:26 am JST on Friday, November 1, 2024. A small sliver of international fans, like Japanese viewers, will see this translate to an early Friday morning local release window.

Meanwhile, most international audiences will instead see the episode become available sometime during the day on Thursday, October 31. The exact time of release varies by region and timezone.

Where to watch Dandadan episode 5

The series is set to stream on both Crunchyroll and Netflix during the Fall 2024 anime season internationally with English subtitles as the series airs weekly in Japan.

As of this article’s writing, an English dub has been shown in production via a trailer, but no other language dubs are currently confirmed.

Dandadan episode 4 began with Momo Ayase and Ken “Okarun” Takakura arriving at the Turbo Granny’s tunnel. They entered to confront her, but were quickly trapped. Okarun’s powers were also taken away via the Turbo Granny undoing the curse.

However, Okarun was able to convince her to take over his body once again. This allowed Momo to fully restrain her via her powers, freeing herself in the process.

Turbo Granny then called out to the location-bound spirit for help, revealing it to be a giant crab. The crab chased Momo and Okarun as they ran via Okarun’s powers to a nearby city, using one of his two all-out bursts in the process.

The crab eventually cornered them in a bathhouse, but Momo used her powers to break pipes with hot water and boil the crab. This temporarily restrained it, but it eventually followed them outside.

The two were also cornered by a horde of people the two spirits had taken over, forcing Okarun to use his second all-out burst to escape. Just as the two seemed to be out of options, Momo used her powers to grab a running train and convince the Turbo Granny to follow her.

This led her into the trap Momo and her grandmother set, resulting in their victory. The episode ended with the exposition of the Turbo Granny, and Momo and Okarun’s friendship blossoming.

What to expect from Dandadan episode 5 (speculative)

Dandadan episode 5 will likely begin with a focus on Okarun and Momo at school the day after the previous episode’s events. The two will likely have some awkwardness about them given how new their relationship is, and the plentiful context surrounding it.

This will likely be intensified by Okarun’s bullying and Momo’s gang of gyaru girls, who may provide negative commentary on the pair’s friendship.

Episode 5 will also likely see the pair get involved in some sort of supernatural occurrence at their school. Given that the first two main conflicts involved the pair fighting against aliens, another spirit should be their enemy.

This may even lead to them meeting the characters who’ll eventually become part of the series’ central cast. At a minimum, however, it should give Okarun and Momo another opportunity to develop both their friendship and their powers.
