Brief episode recap
Dandadan episode 6 begins with Turbo Granny describing the golden balls that possess Ken "Okarun" Takakura’s “kintama” as the trio searches for them. Unable to find them, Turbo Granny adds that spirits may have taken them since they exude a high spiritual energy. Momo Ayase and Okarun begin beating up Turbo Granny while demanding she help them look since it’s her problem too given that she wants her powers back.
The trio then return to Momo’s house, where Seiko Ayase says she’ll see what she can do while warning Okarun of his powers. The next day at school, some boys from his class approached Okarun. The boys asked him about his relationship with Ayase. It’s revealed that they wanted to be introduced to Momo since she’s cute, sending Okarun spiraling about the context of his friendship with her as a result.
However, Dandadan episode 6 saw the conversation get more sinister, with the boys asking about the rumor that she’d sleep with anyone. This infuriated Okarun to the point of him grabbing the boy’s collar and slowly transforming into his Turbo Granny form. The boys obviously didn’t notice the transformation given its spiritual nature, but the change in strength was enough to have the boy cry out in pain. Okarun denied the rumor’s validity as he did this.
Okarun then tried to sit down and calm down by reading. However, when Turbo Granny suddenly popped out of his backpack, his stress intensified. Okarun went to a private section of the hallway to speak with her, where she tried to convince him to let her take over his body again and regain her powers. Okarun refused as Momo walked up, oblivious to Turbo Granny’s presence while asking Okarun what he was doing.
Hilariously, Dandadan episode 6 saw Okarun become flustered when he remembered his realization about Momo’s attractiveness. This prompted the two of them to run away while Turbo Granny explored the school on her own. Later on, Momo heard about Okarun standing up for her from her friends, leaving her even more confused about why he was avoiding her earlier.
The focus then shifted to Aira Shiratori, whose introduction painted her as a vain girl who started the rumor about Momo. She revealed that she did so because she knew Momo was the one who dropped the washtub on her by seeing her powers. It’s revealed that Aira’s ability to see spirits came as a result of her coming into contact with one of Okarun’s kintama, which she believed was a sign of her destiny to defeat Momo in battle.
Dandadan episode 6 then cut to a flashback showing Aira finding the kintama, which happened at the moment Momo defeated Turbo Granny in the area by where it happened. This is also where Momo, Okarun, and Turbo Granny were looking at the start of the episode. Focus then returned to the present, where Aira’s friends gave her exorcism tools to defeat Momo.
However, Aira said she saw Momo’s “familiar” on the fields outside, describing her as a woman in a red dress, which Turbo Granny saw. Focus then shifted to Momo, Okarun, and Turbo Granny, where the lattermost said that a human finding one would activate their spiritual power.
She added that there’s one student who she thinks may have them. After school, however, Aira approached the trio and asked to speak with Momo alone before they could look for her.
Dandadan episode 6 saw Turbo Granny tell Okarun that Aira was the girl as Momo went to an old shed with Aira. Here, she and her friends tried to “defeat” Momo, prompting Momo to use her powers to try and free herself. As Momo realized Okarun had the kintama, Okarun, and Turbo Granny arrived, bringing with them an even bigger threat. This was when the woman in the red dress appeared and snatched up Aira, who said she had been waiting for Aira.
A shot of a young Aira calling someone her mother appeared as Okarun transformed and pursued the pair, who were running away. However, he was inexperienced with his powers which led to him being unable to rescue Aira and being eaten by the red dress Yokai. The Yokai then referred to herself as Aira’s mother, as a flashback appeared of a young Aira tugging on the dress of a woman with torn, dirty clothes.
Dandadan episode 6 saw Turbo Granny reveal the yokai as the acrobatic Silky while Momo tried to fight back. Aira then announced her intent to kill Silky, prompting her to eat Aira and the still-handcuffed Momo shortly thereafter. However, while Turbo Granny distracted Silky after, Momo set fire to the hair which Silky swallowed when eating her via the crucifix lighter Aira had. The episode ended with the pair preparing to finish Silky off.
In summation
Dandadan episode 6 officially introduces Aira Shiratori, who seems set to become a central character given her abilities and the time that’s being spent on her introduction. Likewise, while it seems that SIlky is her mother, it’s likely coming installments will further expand on both Silky’s backstory and Aira’s, revealing the truth of their relationship.
