Dandadan episode 7 recap
Dandadan episode 7 began with a brief scene from Silky’s backstory showing her running on the streets of Japan chasing after something. The episode then returned to the present, where Okarun and Momo ran away from Silky with Aira. Okarun eventually landed a massive hit and sent her flying, also incapacitating her briefly. Turbo Granny found Okarun’s kintama on Aira, adding that the girl died from being swallowed by Silky.
As Okarun and Momo tried to revive her, Silky approached them with a way to save Aira and convinced them to trust her. As Momo facilitated the transfer of Silky’s aura into Aira’s body, she saw Silky’s life as a human mother play out. Silky worked multiple jobs, including being a s*x worker, to raise her daughter. However, debt collectors one day came into their home, beat Silky nearly to death, and took her daughter.
The scene from the start of the episode showed her unsuccessfully running after her child. She then took her own life and became a spirit, where Aira saw her and mistook her for her mother. This facilitated Silky’s transfer into a yokai, as it reminded her of her lost daughter.
Aira’s own mother died when she was young. The episode ended with Aira hugging the dying Silky and acting as her child in order to allow her to die without regrets and enter the afterlife.
What to expect from Dandadan episode 8 (speculative)
After the heartbreaking and gut-wrenching experience depicted in episode 7, Dandadan episode 8 is expected to be much more light-hearted and comedic. This will likely begin with a focus on Okarun having his kintama returned to its rightful place, which will surely generate some laughs given previous discussions on the matter. Okarun and Momo’s presumed continuing interactions with Aira should lend themselves to comedic relief.
Episode 8 should also begin laying the groundwork for whatever Okarun and Momo’s next paranormal adventure is, which may involve Aira. There’s even a chance it’s centered on Aira yet again given that she now has Acrobatic Silky’s energy within her. However, it would make sense for the series to ground itself with a focus on Okarun and Momo exclusively in the next adventure.
