One of the most highly anticipated television anime series of the Fall 2024 season has been Dandadan, which aired its most highly anticipated episode earlier this week.
The episode wrapped up Aira Shiratori’s introduction, revealing Acrobatic Silky’s gut-wrenching and heartbreaking backstory. This, of course, was done transcendentally well, to the point where calling it anything but plain old good television would be an understatement.
However, the episode also pushed the story along, seemingly getting Aira involved in Okarun and Momo’s shenanigans by nature of her now possessing Silky’s aura. While this did allow Aira to survive her first encounter with a yokai, it also sheds light on how current happenings in the original manga could spell her doom.

Dandadan manga may soon see Aira’s death at Count Saint-Germain’s hands
Recent months of mangaka Yukinobu Tatsu’s Dandadan series have been incredibly exciting, primarily thanks to the introduction of Count Saint-Germain. Although first appearing in chapter 120, his true role has become apparent in recent months, particularly with the introduction of the titular concept to readers. It’s unclear what exactly it is yet, but it is implied to be paranormal and has something to do with Okarun and co.
This is implied by the fact that recent chapters have seen Count Saint-Germain go out of his way to target Ken “Okarun” Takakura and Momo Ayase for their powers. Although he has been unsuccessful in stealing their abilities so far, it’s clear that he’s targeting at least them—and possibly others in their group. Therein lies the problem when it comes to Aira’s current status as explained in the anime’s latest episode.
In Dandadan episode 7, Aira was brought back to life with the help of Acrobatic Silky’s aura, which replaced her own aura that had faded as a result of dying when being eaten by Silky. As the anime will later reveal, this is what grants her access to her Acrobatic Silky form, essentially seeing her use a different version of the same yokai powers. Likewise, Aira’s life could be in danger if Count Saint-Germain targets the source of her powers.
However, this does presume that Aira’s aura was completely replaced by Silky’s rather than being supplemented by it. Unfortunately, there’s no clear answer to that fact as of this article’s writing, but it can be presumed that Aira’s life is only possible by the nature of having Silky’s aura inside her. Thus, if Count Saint-Germain chooses to target Aira’s powers for the purpose of attaining the titular concept, it could very well lead to her death.
Part of what makes predicting how such a scenario could play out is the fact that Aira and Silky are the series’ only examples of aura transfer thus far. As a result, fans have no other incidents to pull evidence from and infer what Aira’s fate could have in store for her. Instead, readers will simply have to wait and see what moves Count Saint-Germain makes next.
Final thoughts
While the above is speculative due to the subject lacking significant information, it would be logical that removing Aira’s powers would also end her life. Although Saint-Germain has not yet targeted Aira specifically in the manga, it's likely that he will eventually turn his eyes toward everyone in Okarun and Momo’s group.
