Deku's new suit embodies the greatest message of My Hero Academia and fans might have failed to realize it

My Hero Academia has finally reached an emphatic conclusion after 430 chapters and 10 long years. Izuku Midoriya's story, from Quirkless to possessing one of the strongest Quirks to finally going back to being Quirkless, has been nothing short of epic and memorable. A series such as this will go down in history as a top-rated piece of art.

However, fans seem to be upset with Izuku Midoriya's new outfit in the final panel of My Hero Academia. Previously, being a die-hard All Might fan, he modeled his Hero costume with the former No. 1 Hero in mind. It underwent changes as the series progressed, showcasing his evolution as an individual and a Hero.

Ultimately, he was given a more mechanized suit, which presumably possessed high-tech features to allow him to keep up with his comrades and fight evil. Fans seem to have misunderstood the message the series was trying to deliver via such a move.

My Hero Academia: Deku's new suit leaves upset fans with a deep and great message

To begin with, Deku's final fight with League of Villains leader Tomura Shigaraki is where he lost his Quirk, One For All (OFA). In a battle for the ages, the two apprentices toughed it out in the most intense way possible, with Shigaraki proving to be the superior fighter. Deku did not want to give up on Shigaraki, so he decided to forfeit OFA one by one to battle him in the vestige world.

Putting it briefly, Deku managed to reach Tenko Shimura, but All For One (AFO) took over. Aided by his friends and other Heroes, Deku used the dying embers of OFA to finally defeat AFO. The result — Deku ended up as he started, Quirkless. However, the Hero in him was still alive, and thus, All Might gave him a special suit from Class 1-A, which would allow him to continue being a Hero.

This seemed to upset fans who have divided opinions on Kohei Horikoshi's choice of ending. Many felt it pointless that Class 1-A chose to fund it themselves rather than have Melissa/David Shield and Mei Hatsume make it for free. However, through this, My Hero Academia conveys a key message.

Granted, it would have been much easier had Mei and Melissa/David Shield worked on it. Moreover, Momo Yaoyorozu's Quirk would've proved invaluable in crafting and assembling it. But in this, the suit would lose what it stands for — The whole of Class 1-A, especially Deku's rival Katsuki Bakugo, invested their time, effort, and capital into giving their friend a chance to see his dream of being a Hero through.

It is no surprise how much Deku wanted to be a Hero. When he received OFA, he worked immensely hard to develop his body for it and continued working to appropriately wield the Quirk. Though he had to make a big sacrifice in the end, his Hero days weren't over yet. The chapter ends with the following lines:

"This is the tale of how we'll keep reaching out to help for all time."

This is exactly the message Horikoshi was trying to deliver. Despite all odds, they were going to stick together. No matter what, no one would be left behind. Such a gesture from Class 1-A is a testament to the closeness, growth, friendship, and nature of heroism they developed through the story.

Regardless of what happened, they shared the common dream of being heroes, which meant every single one of them would be so. Through the suit, Class 1-A helped in giving Deku his dream back.
