The Demon Slayer series, as the name suggests, has a plethora of demons varying in size and power. While some demons are inherently bad, there were some who were victims of circumstance and were forced to take a certain path. Daki and Gyutaro from the Entertainment District arc were also victims of circumstance.

They were demons with whom fans could sympathize when their backstories were explored in the anime and manga series. The duo was incredibly strong, nearly claiming the lives of Tengen Uzui, Tanjiro Kamado, Inosuke Hashibira, Zenitsu Agatsuma, and Tengen’s wives.

While Gyutaro was a strong demon, he had a few flaws, which ultimately led to his demise. What fans realized after revisiting the fight was that his greatest strength also happened to be his biggest weakness. Koyoharu Gotouge has shown mastery when it comes to character writing, and the analysis of their fight can substantiate this claim.

Gyutaro had a wide range of attacks that he used against the demon hunters. His Blood Demon Art allowed him to force poison into the bloodstream of the demon hunters, which nearly claimed their lives. However, his biggest strength was not any of his physical attributes. His biggest source of strength was Daki. Gyutaro loved his sister more than anyone else, and this can be seen in his demeanor.

Unlike other demons, he is not too concerned about his ranking as a demon. All he cared about was his sister and protecting her against threats. When Tengen Uzui nearly decapitated Daki in the anime, Gyutaro sprung onto the battlefield and immediately protected her. His feelings for Daki made him stronger as a combatant, and that in turn allowed him to become a powerful demon.

Gyutaro’s life didn’t have any meaning until the birth of his sister, and therefore, she was his greatest strength. However, she also happened to be his biggest weakness in the Demon Slayer series. Daki was the only one who truly loved him, and therefore, he retained a certain degree of his humanity. As long as she was alive and alongside him, he would always have a very small portion of humanity. If she had died before they turned into a demon, Gyutaro would have experienced true despair.

He has displayed rage on various occasions. However, the loss of his sister would bring out the worst in him. He would no longer be bound by the shackles of humanity and love, achieving his true potential as a demon and combatant. His kill count would have been substantially higher, thereby increasing his strength and rank within the Upper Moon. Kibutsuji Muzan would have rewarded him by providing more blood, thereby increasing power levels.

His love for Daki was his greatest strength. But it was also the very thing that held him from achieving his true potential as a demon. His interactions with Daki and their backstories go on to prove this without any doubt.
