The crow reassures the anxious Tamayo of her and Yushiro’s safety and delivers the Master’s message, inviting Tamayo to collaborate with the Demon Slayer Corps in defeating Muzan Kibutsuji. The crow informs her of Master Ubuyashiki’s intentions and extends an invitation to the Ubuyashiki Mansion to study Nezuko’s conquering of the sun alongside Shinobu Kocho.

Tamayo, as a demon, is shocked to be invited to the headquarters of the Demon Slayer Corps. The crow leaves just before Yushiro enters the scene, eager to hear the good news from her. Yushiro suggests they should escape soon, informing Tamayo that the preparations for escaping are completed. However, Tamayo declines, noting that Nezuko’s conquering of the sun has set significant events in motion.

She mentions "the event of that day," hinting at the pivotal encounter and confrontation between Muzan, herself, and Yoriichi Tsugikuni, the most powerful demon slayer in history. Tamayo explains to Yushiro that this moment has been building up since that confrontation, informing him that they’ll move to the Ubuyashiki residence.

Demon Slayer Hashira Training Arc episode 2 then shifts to Tanjiro receiving a letter from Master Ubuyashiki, requesting Tanjiro's help in convincing Giyu Tomioka to participate in the Hashira Training. Master Ubuyashiki expresses his wish to speak with Giyu but explains that his deteriorating health prevents him from doing so.

Thus, he urges Tanjiro to be persistent yet patient with Giyu, reminding him that Giyu often isolates himself. Ubuyashiki emphasizes the importance of unity among the Demon Slayer Corps in the upcoming final battle against Muzan Kibutsuji. Tanjiro readily accepts this request.

Demon Slayer Hashira Training Arc episode 2 continues with Tanjiro, still healing from his leg injury, seeking advice from Aoi to convince a lonely person that they are not alone. Though Aoi cannot provide a clear answer, she prepares some onigiri for Tanjiro and Giyu.

Tanjiro then meets the latter and asks if he can train under him. Giyu sternly declines, expressing his dissatisfaction with Tanjiro for not mastering Water Breathing. He mentions that the Water Hashira position is currently vacant and that Tanjiro was supposed to take on the role. Giyu insists that he is not the Water Hashira, though he does not explain why.

Giyu initially shows no interest in continuing a conversation with Tanjiro afterward, declining to train him. However, Tanjiro’s persistent persuasion efforts eventually pay off, leading Giyu to explain why he doesn’t consider himself the Water Hashira. During this conversation, Giyu’s past and connections with Sabito are revealed.

Giyu shares that he never passed the final selection test, revealing that he and Sabito trained together under Urokodaki. During their test, Sabito saved several people, including Giyu, but tragically, he was the only one to die that year, while everyone he saved passed.

Tanjiro empathizes with Giyu's pain and understands his reasoning for not considering himself a Hashira, remembering Rengoku's sacrifice. But remembering Inosuke’s words, Tanjiro reminds Giyu that they have to continue living and carry on with what they were entrusted.

This crucial realization reminds Giyu of Sabito’s own words to him. With this, Giyu finally agrees to join the training. Meanwhile, Tanjiro invites him to a soba eating contest, during which their conversation about the training brings up Shinobu.
