Demon Slayer Hashira Training's most popular anime original scene might become Infinity Castle's biggest loophole

Demon Slayer's fourth anime season ended last Sunday. The reception was very positive, even if it was adapting a fairly short arc, the Hashira Training storyline, from Koyoharu Gotouge's manga. However, while many people praised studio Ufotable for adding much-needed new scenes in the anime, there was a plot point that could become a loophole in the Infinity Castle episodes.

A new scene added for the fourth season of the Demon Slayer anime featured Obanai Iguro and Sanemi Shinazugawa, two of the Hashira, accidentally ending up in Muzan's Infinity Castle. That didn't happen in the manga and added a certain inconsistency for the upcoming Infinity Castle arc because Sanemi and Obanai didn't tell anyone about this place.

The anime-only scenes of the Infinity Castle could be a loophole in the next Demon Slayer arc

Considering that the Hashira Training arc didn't have a lot of chapters in the manga (a total of eight chapters), Ufotable made the right decision to add new scenes to the adaptation to make it last longer and flow better.

While the scenes of Obanai Iguro and Sanemi Shinazugawa entering the Infinity Castle were widely praised by the fandom because of the animation and how it added to the arc, it did lead to some possible plot inconsistencies.

The issue is that the Hashira and their allies didn't know anything about the Infinity Castle, which means that Obanai and Sanemi were the first among them to put a foot in that place. Therefore, considering that the manga shows they were not aware of the existence of the Infinity Castle until the decisive final arc, they should have informed their allies about it.

Of course, this is mere fan speculation at the moment, but there is the possibility of Ufotable adding a new scene in the movie trilogy to justify this creative decision, having Obanai and Sanemi reveal their experience in that place. However, considering how bizarre that event was for them, they should have told their allies from the get-go.

What to expect in the movie trilogy

The events of the latest Demon Slayer anime season were focused on setting up the upcoming arc, the Infinity Castle storyline, which is going to focus on how Tanjiro Kamado and his allies invade Muzan's hideout. This is the second-to-last arc of the series and is the beginning of the story's conclusion since this is the final battle, for all intents and purposes.

Furthermore, Ufotable recently confirmed that this arc will be adapted into a movie trilogy, so fans can expect many different events. For example, this arc is fondly remembered for the battle of the three Hashira and Genya against Kokushibo, Tanjiro and Giyu Tomioka against Akaza, and many more memorable fights.

Final thoughts

The scene of Obanai and Sanemi at the Infinity Castle during the fourth Demon Slayer season was rightfully praised. However, if Ufotable doesn't deal with this little loophole, it can create some unnecessary plot inconsistencies in what should be the anime's climax.
