Demon Slayer season 4 has been nothing short of entertaining, and Ufotable pulled all stops for the season finale. The concluding episode had a runtime of 41 minutes, and it was the perfect setup for what is considered to be the best story arc in the series—the Infinity Castle arc.

Kibutsuji Muzan received the lion’s share of screentime in the concluding episode as he made his way to Kagaya Ubuyashiki. The leader of the Demon Slayer Corps anticipated Muzan’s appearance with the help of his unique Foresight ability. This is an ability that every member of the Ubuyashiki family has at their disposal.

He asked Gyomei Himejima to use him as bait and launch a coordinated attack with the remaining Hashira. While Muzan was able to regenerate from the explosion that Ubuyashiki initiated, his mistake from the time in Asakusa came to haunt him in a manner that he least expected.

In the first season of the series, Tanjiro Kamado encountered Muzan for the first time in Asakusa. He and Nezuko were resting, and he could smell an incredibly foul scent that reeked of a powerful demon. He was the first one among the Corps who encountered Muzan and lived to tell the tale. At that point in the anime and manga series, Muzan seemed to have a family, and Tanjiro caused quite the stir in public.

In order to divert attention from himself, Muzan turned a random human being into a demon. This forced Tanjiro to act immediately, and he restrained the demon carefully. Luckily, Tamayo and Yushiro got their hands on this unfortunate demon and attempted to create a drug that would reverse the effects of a demon. Later on, she also wrote a letter to Tanjiro stating how she managed to cure the man from Asakusa, and she suspected that Nezuko could potentially conquer the sun.

The same man manifested Blood Demon Art, which took the form of thorns. When Tamayo ambushed Muzan, she utilized the same Blood Demon Art that the man from Asakusa had. It had thorns that branched out within Muzan’s body, and it immobilized him completely.

The thorns not only held him in place, but they also weakened him momentarily. This gave Gyomei Himejaima, the Stone Hashira, the opportunity to land a clean blow on Muzan’s head. While it was accurate, it didn’t kill him, and the Demon King regenerated.

Muzan certainly paid the price for turning the man from Asakusa into a demon. The show seems to love the concept of Karmic retribution. It often connects seemingly unrelated events and utilizes the concept of fate to deliver justice.

This was one such example, and fans are waiting to see how the entire organization is going to fare against the remaining Upper Moon demons and Muzan in the upcoming installations of the anime series.
