One of the most notable things about the Demon Slayer series is its fanbase. This particular title amassed a massive fanbase when the anime adaptation first hit the screens. The manga was performing well, but the anime adaptation skyrocketed the series’ popularity.
Aside from their love for the series, fans also contribute to the community by creating various forms of fan art. This usually comes in the form of illustrations, edits, fan-animation clips, and cosplay, among others.
In this case, one netizen created a Demon Slayer edit with his incredible cinematography and VFX skills. This reminded fans of one of the most popular Hahsiras in the series, Kyojuro Rengoku.
Demon Slayer: Why did netizens react to the video uploaded by the fan?
A popular motif in the animanga series is the particle effects of any swordsman who uses Breathing Techniques. There are various elements like water, fire, and wind, among others, and they are incorporated into the particle effects. It’s quite difficult to bring this anime to life, owing to the exaggerated movements.
However, the fan in question not only replicated a swordsman’s movements but also incorporated the fire element. His sword slashes had flames shooting in an outward direction. While it’s unclear if the sword was actually on fire or if VFX was incorporated, the net result was quite interesting, to say the least.
This gentleman’s video reminded fans of Kyojuro Rengoku, the Flame Hashira. He is extremely charismatic and is known for his tenacity. No matter how bad the circumstances were, he always found a way to push through. His popular catchphrase “Set your heart ablaze” is perfectly captured in this edit.
How the fanbase reacted to the edit
"I won't say when I'm rich but there will be signs," said one fan.
"Holy f**k that was awesome!!" said another.
"Okay, now I want to know how you did this! This is awesome!" said one netizen.
It was clear that the entire fanbase loved the flaming sword seen in the post attached above. Not only was the swordsman's movement smooth but the behavior of fire complemented the person's movement. Furthermore, fans also acknowledged just how beautiful the sword was, and many netizens expressed interest in the weapon.
"Oh that’s awesome," commented one fan.
"I would cut everything with that sword," shared another.
"Flame Breathing," added one netizen.
Netizens believed they could cut anything with the sword showcased in the video. It was certainly a visual spectacle, and some fans were convinced that this was the closest thing to Flame Breathing Technique that can be done in real life. Furthermore, fans also compared him to Rengoku from the animanga series.
The smooth yet explosive movements resembled the Flame Hashira in his prime. It was quite disheartening to see the Flame Hashira die that young. However, his valiant efforts saved plenty of lives in the animanga series.
