The Demon Slayer series, much like many shonen titles, has a specific power system the characters adhere to. There's a common trend that one can observe when these characters are in the midst of a combat.

Naturally, each and every animanga title out there with a set power system. However, they all have their flaws, which is why verse battles exist. There are plenty of anime and manga fans who constantly compare their favorite characters with characters from a different title.

Much like other series, Koyoharu Gotouge’s magnum opus also has its own flaws when we take a look at the power system. The basis of the power system is based almost entirely on one attribute.

The demon hunters in the anime and manga series mostly use swords made out of special materials that can kill demons. These ores that are used in the making of a Nichirin Blade, have been exposed to the sun, absorbing its qualities, thereby killing demons effectively. The series doesn't rely on magic or other supernatural elements, which other shonen titles might have.

The presence of magic doesn’t necessarily mean that the power system is great or flawless. However, the issue with the power system observed in the Demon Slayer series is its importance on speed. Demons are incredibly powerful, and a part of the reason why they’re such a threat is because they have physical abilities that far exceed human capabilities.

The sheer difference in the abilities between demons and human can be credited to speed. The demons are faster, more agile, and they also have access to supernatural abilities called Blood Demon Art.

The demon hunters needed to bridge this gap, and that’s when Breathing Techniques was introduced. That's the bedrock of the Demon Slayer power system.

Any demon hunter’s ability is associated with a form of one among various Breathing Techniques. This improved the demon hunters’ strength substantially. However, the physical attribute that bridged the gap between the demon hunters and the demons was speed.

While that worked perfectly in the series, there was too much emphasis on speed. Another issue with this attribute is that fans tend to wrongly gauge one’s overall abilities. That had led to plenty of verse battles wherein netizens believed that characters from the series were capable of taking on far stronger opponents than they could.

If we take away the speed aspect of their attacks, there isn’t much that they’re capable of. Furthermore, a byproduct of speed is the wind-up time they need to generate immense force which is converted to speed, which also makes them quite vulnerable to attacks.

The biggest flaw in the Demon Slayer power system is speed. There are two main issues related to this - first being the sheer importance given to it, and the second being the wind-up time.

There's a massive reliance on speed, which makes it a massive flaw during verse battles that happen on various social media platforms. The issue with the wind-up is that it leaves the demon hunters vulnerable to plenty of attacks. These are some of the biggest issues with the power system in the animanga title.
