With the release of Demon Slayer season 4 episode 8, the anime ended the Hashira Training Arc and began the Infinity Castle Arc. Considering how the Hashira Training Arc only had nine chapters, fans did not expect a lot from it. But surprisingly, the anime's final episode left fans baffled, forcing them to label it the "episode of the year."
The anime's final episode saw Kagaya Ubuyashiki ambushing Muzan Kibutsuji by blowing up the entire Ubuyashiki Mansion with explosives. This blast allowed Tamayo to get closer to Muzan and poison him. Right after, Gyomei Himejima reached the location and attacked the Demon King. The Hashira and Tanjiro also arrived but were soon transferred inside the Infinity Castle.
What was special about Demon Slayer season 4 episode 8?
Even though Demon Slayer Hashira Training Arc has only nine chapters in the manga series, the animation studio Ufotable animated the arc into eight episodes. This decision saw the anime include several anime original scenes and expand certain ones. While fans loved how Ufotable was executing its plan, many fans did not like it as it slowed down the story.
However, that wasn't the case for Demon Slayer season 4 episode 8 as fans truly loved what Ufotable had done with the series. The anime adapted three chapters from the manga, i.e., chapters 137-139, for the finale and it turned out really good, especially due to its movie-like animation quality that might have even surpassed its previous seasons.

Many anime fans were left baffled by the animation quality as the animation studio went above and beyond anything depicted in the manga series.
The entire Ubuyashiki Mansion explosion was beautiful, leading many fans to believe that it surpassed the level of creativity seen in the Oppenheimer movie.
"Despite Heavy Criticism From Nearly Everyone,Ufotable has Managed to Turn Things Around and Gave us One of The Best Episodes Of This Year," another user added.
"Its definitely episode of the year until Daima arrives," a fan said.
Other fans praised the anime for turning things around. Many fans were previously criticizing Ufotable for the anime's slow pacing. However, with Demon Slayer season 4 episode 8, the anime seemingly turned things around for the better.
