Mitsuri Kanroji from the Demon Slayer received the lion’s share of the screen time during the Swordsmith Village arc. In this story arc of the anime and manga series, Upper Moon demons had infiltrated the secret Swordsmith Village. One of the Hashiras that played an important role in defeating these demons was Mitsuri.

Mitsuri Kanroji, the Love Hashira, had a relatively less traumatic childhood compared to other Hashiras. She was born to an exceptionally supportive and loving family. When she was a child, she showed signs of incredible strength.

Mitsuri Kanroji managed to lift an extremely heavy stone that no child would be able to. Her mother, who was known for being calm and composed despite any situation, was shocked and fell when she saw what her daughter could do.

At that point in the Demon Slayer series, the parents realized just how strong Mitsuri Kanroji was. While she didn’t have the muscular definition of a strong person, she didn’t lack strength. Her muscle density is abnormally higher compared to the average human being. As a child, Mitsuri would often partake in arm-wrestling competitions. She didn’t compete with kids her age, and instead, would beat some of the best Sumo Wrestlers.

She has an incredible appetite and would eat multiple bowls of Soba noodles in one sitting even when she was a child. The high muscle density could be a reason for Mitsuri’s appetite, since her body demands more nutrition than the average human being. While she is an extremely beautiful woman, men at the time didn’t like the fact that she had pink and green colored hair.

Her appearance, her incredible strength, and her appetite were some of the reasons why a suitor refused to marry her. He even insulted her in the process which broke her heart.

Later on, fans could see Mitsuri change her appearance, and starve herself in order to be liked. It was only then that a suitor had shown interest. This is when Mitsuri felt like she was unlovable in the Demon Slayer series. This is when Mitsuri felt that men would only love her if she changed herself.

Later, she realized that the things that made her “unloveable”, made her who she is. It was a part of who she was, and she eventually found someone (Obanai Iguro) who loved her unconditionally. As it was pointed out by Kagaya Ubuyashiki in the Demon Slayer series, she was blessed by the Gods. People were merely jealous and afraid of her strength and urged her to use it to defeat evil.
