With the conclusion of Demon Slayer Hashira Training Arc, the anime series announced the decision to adapt the rest of the series, i.e., the Final Battle Arc - Infinity Castle Arc and Sunrise Countdown Arc, into a movie trilogy.
This decision has received mixed reactions from the anime fanbase as many of them preferred the series's current release pattern, i.e., movies and television anime. But with the final story arc announced to be adapted as a movie trilogy, fans may need to bid farewell to the television anime release pattern.
While fans know that Ufotable is very capable of adapting a manga into a movie, they fear the decision due to the sheer amount of source material left in the manga. Nevertheless, there is good reason to believe that a movie trilogy was the best decision for Demon Slayer's Infinity Castle Arc.

Demon Slayer's Infinity Castle Arc getting a movie trilogy decision might be the best decision by Ufotable
As fans would know, Ufotable does not take it easy when it comes to the animation quality of their anime. The Demon Slayer anime has had amazing animation since the very beginning. However, following the release of its third season, Swordsmith Village Arc, it has become even more evident.
With anime episodes featuring movie-like quality in every season, it seems very obvious what the animation studio prioritizes. Considering that the Infinity Castle Arc is touted to be the best story arc in the series, Ufotable may want to do the source material justice and put forward their best work.
However, given the animation quality standard, they have set through their best episodes in the past, such a task would be very difficult. Hence, Demon Slayer's final arcs getting movie adaptations might be the best-case scenario for the anime.
While it is true that fans may have to wait for two to three years between the movies, each movie is bound to be amazing in terms of quality. Moreover, the movies would break records and pull a lot of attention to the series, making it more popular than ever.
That said, it is understandable why fans might be against this decision. The entirety of Infinity Castle Arc and Sunrise Countdown Arc together have a total of over 60 chapters. Thus, it would be very difficult for Ufotable to adapt the source material into three movies without cutting down on scenes. As one could guess, no fan wants scenes from the manga to get omitted in an anime adaptation. Thus, Ufotable might have to come up with a solution for the same.
That aside, Ufotable had to make sure that their quality excelled their previous works or at least remained consistent. Given the number of important fights that are set to be adapted as part of the anime, the studio would not want to make any cutbacks. Hence, adapting the manga into a movie would allow them to focus all their efforts on putting their best work forward rather than stretching the story to fit an appropriate runtime.
Such a format should also bring cohesiveness to the series as several scenes from the Swordsmith Village Arc were criticized by fans for the the anime's usage of CG animation. As fans know, CG animation helps animators cut down their animation time. But given the criticism Ufotable faced, they would not want to risk such an action. Hence, fans can expect the anime to follow the same animation format throughout the three upcoming movies.
Such a scenario should allow Ufotable to produce the best anime possible, without being forced to regret any mistake they made during the anime's finale.
