Chainsaw Man's current arc constantly surprises with each chapter that is released. Yoru and the Chainsaw Man's battle was slated to be epic and it is safe to say that so far, it has not been disappointing in the slightest. But in all this adrenaline-pumping Devil vs Devil action, the two protagonists are seemingly at the greatest risk.
A recent theory that surfaced predicts that both Denji and Asa Mitaka will lose everything by the time this current arc concludes. It speculates that they will get back their human selves but at the cost of losing the Chainsaw Devil and the War Devil respectively. This article will delve deeper into the theory and endeavour to analyze what might happen next in Chainsaw Man.
Disclaimer: This article is speculative in nature.
Chainsaw Man: Denji and Asa might lose it all by the end of the current arc
This recent Chainsaw Man theory begins by stating that both Denji and Asa will be separated from their respective Devils by the end of this arc. This links back to Fami's aim - to prevent the apocalypse by killing the Death Devil. For that, she needed to take control of the War Devil and Chainsaw Man.
Given the present scenario, with the fight for control over Pochita raging on, the two protagonists will lose. Moreover, Asa finally witnessing Yoru's true colors seems to further push the idea of separation. In the end, the theory speculates that Fami and Barem will face Denji, Asa and the group before the Death Devil's arrival.
The story setting off on such a route will play into Denji and Asa's arcs of self-discovery and their actual feelings for each other, free of any Devil-related influence. Furthermore, the theory states that Denji and Pochita separating will be exactly what creator Tatsuki Fujimoto has been building towards since Part I of the series.
Can Denji and Asa actually be separated from Pochita and Yoru?
The mentioned Chainsaw Man theory seems plausible but questions do arise. To start off, the series does not clarify if our protagonists can be separated from their respective Devils. Denji and Pochita contract's witnessed the latter give Denji his heart in exchange for wanting to live and realize Denji's dreams, which led to Denji becoming the Chainsaw Man. Elsewhere, Asa and Yoru's contract was life for Asa in exchange for Yoru gaining access to Asa's body.
Considering these two scenarios, both Denji and Asa's cases are unique and complex. It is unclear whether they can be taken apart from each other. What can happen is that both Pochita and Yoru take full control and in turn, Fami takes control of them. But even so, we still don't know the extent of Fami's powers. Her aim is clear, but how she plans to go about it has not been fully revealed yet.
Moving on, the point of Pochita contracting with Denji was the former's desire to see and live the boy's dreams through him. That is exactly what began this whole saga and formed the basis of this series, following which Denji was thrust deeper into the world of Devils and Devil Hunters. With this in mind, is it likely that Fujimoto pushes for the pair to separate, leaving Denji powerless, just before the great arrives?
Final Thoughts
While there might be a few missing links in this theory, at the end of the day, it is just speculation. The manga has been explosive, to say the least, and not very predictable in the way the story is unfolding. Fujimoto looks to have turned up the heat with the latest battle by introducing the Aging Devil into the Pochita-Yoru fight.
Given the current state of affairs, it is likely that Yoru will now have to shift her focus to battling the Aging Devil. While these two clash, Pochita might be sidelined and by some miracle, get blood which will allow him to heal up to some extent but then again, not enough. Fujimoto's twists are famous and with whatever has happened, nothing can be ruled out.
