Denji may soon free one of Chainsaw Man's most powerful Devils

Chainsaw Man's protagonist duo being trapped in the Aging Devil's warped dimension seems to have raised the stakes considerably. The concept of time is strange in this world, beginning to push Denji and Asa to their limits as they struggle to make sense of anything at this point.

A recent twist, though, witnesses Denji unexpectedly throw up the head of the Snow Devil. This looks to cause an immediate reaction as it snows in the mysterious world. Such an occurrence might carry deeper implications than initially gauged.

As per speculations, this strange event could lead to something greater, i.e., Denji needing to bring back a more powerful Devil if he and Asa want to escape. A recent theory suggests that Denji might need to throw up the Nuclear Weapons Devil to save them. Given Denji’s history of unorthodox and risky alliances, releasing this Devil could either make or break the pair's escape.

Chainsaw Man: Denji might soon need to free a powerful Devil

In Chainsaw Man chapter 182, while talking to Asa Mitaka/Yoru, Denji makes a worried face before throwing up the Snow Devil's head. It immediately begins to snow in the Aging Devil's world, thus confirming what the thrown-up Devil was. A recent theory suggests that if Denji can do this, he may need to throw up the Nuclear Weapons Devil to better his chances of escape.

As per the theory, Devils directly entering Aging's world will lose their power, as seen with Yoru. She tries to fire her gauntlets, but they refuse to work. However, the Devils that Denji, or rather Pochita, previously consumed seem unaffected, for example, the Snow Devil, as it began snowing. So, according to this logic, whatever Devil Denji throws up will have their abilities intact.

Thus, the theory says that Denji will need to somehow throw up the Nuclear Weapons Devil. This was the Devil that Yoru wanted to get out of Chainsaw Man. Given the series' lore on Devils, this Devil will likely be among the upper echelons of power and another child of Yoru since Nuclear Weapons come from War. So, while Yoru might get her wish, it won't be in the manner she expects.

Can Denji control which Devils he brings back?

It is understandable that such a theory would arise following the Snow Devil's partial return. But the biggest concern here might be whether Denji can control which Devils he brings back. Judging from the chapter, it was completely involuntary and sudden, the cause of which remains unknown.

Next, it is unlikely that the Nuclear Weapons Devil will be as small as the Snow Devil. It could be in its complete Devil form, and from past Chainsaw Man panels, their forms are not small. He might need to throw up part of it to bring back the whole Devil.

Assuming he does manage to choose which Devil he needs to recall, will it be alive or a corpse? If it comes out alive, then the protagonist pair might have to deal with it first, given the last memories of a likely battle. Notably, we don't know in what condition it was consumed, which is what will dictate its reaction. But then again, either way, just as with Gun and Tank, Yoru might be able to weaponize her "child."

Final thoughts

The theory does not seem too ridiculous because Denji can now throw up Devils and reintroduce their concept. The Snow Devil might just be a hint at the ability that creator Tatsuki Fujimoto is giving viewers. Knowing the mangaka, there is definitely something greater in store.

Moreover, he likely used the Snow Devil to transition to Denji's flashback about Aki Hayakawa and Power. Importantly, it was also snowing during the Hayakawa family's trip to Hokkaido. So, the snow appearing in Aging's world likely reminds Denji of that trip and something vital he learned from Aki and Power.
