Denji's escape plan in Chainsaw Man may rely on his only friend

The Chainsaw Man manga is in a stalemate of sorts as Denji and Asa Mitaka are currently trapped in the Aging Devil's world with no clear idea of how they can escape. However, the protagonist stated in the recently published chapter 183 that he has a good plan for their escape, and while most have assumed that involves eating Asa Mitaka, the return of Hirofumi Yoshida could be on the cards.

Yoshida, one of the few people Denji considers a friend, has been a recurring character in the second part of Chainsaw Man. With Denji now vomiting up the Devils he consumed during his rampage, it seems Yoshida may return to assist in the conflict.

Explaining how Hirofumi Yoshida could return in Chainsaw Man

Yoshida gained a greater role in the second part of the series and has been supervising Denji so he doesn't use his powers, but unlike other people in Public Safety, he seems to hold a degree of care for the protagonist.

They were both manipulated by Makima in the first part and Yoshida seems to understand that Denji is more than a tool for them to use, which can play out in the coming chapters.

Pochita ate multiple Devils when fighting Public Safety and one of them was the Octopus Devil, which belongs to Yoshida, thus setting the potential scenario of Denji vomiting said creature and bringing Hirofumi back into the plot. This could also set up some interactions with Asa Mitaka since he was the one who cut her arm off when they fought in the previous arc.

Although Yoshida and his Octopus Devil don't have abilities that directly counter the Aging Devil's world, he could still help. There's also a theory that Yoshida might play a role in Denji eating Asa, which is a popular idea among fans.

The theory of Denji eating Asa

If this theory proves to be correct and Hirofumi Yoshida is vomited by Denji, with the former willing to make up for his betrayal and help them, this could set up another theory, which is that of the protagonist eating Asa. This suggests that Denji is going to do this so Pochita, who is still regenerating in the outside world, can vomit Asa so she can be free,

In that regard, some fans have pointed out that Denji sliced and cooked Makima when he did something similar in the past in Chainsaw Man and can't do that with Asa at the moment. However, with Yoshida, a master swordsman, the idea could take place, although is fair to say that this outcome would be far too morbid, even by the standards of author Tatsuki Fujimoto.

Final thoughts

It is a valid argument to claim that Hirofumi Yoshida's arc in the series is yet to have a conclusion and him helping Chainsaw Man could be a roundabout ending for him. However, this is mere fan speculation and has to be taken with a grain of salt.
