Kite was one of the characters in the Hunter x Hunter series whom Ging Freecss saved in the past. He later became the disciple of Ging to learn hunter abilities. He learned how to use Nen and also passed the Hunter exam.

Later, Kite met Gon Freecss while looking for Ging. Ging had given Kite the task of finding him because he was not satisfied with Kite passing the Hunter exam so easily. He also saves Gon from a Foxbear mother attack and leaves Ging’s Hunter License to Gon, telling him that his father is not dead. Gon passed the Hunter exam and went to Green Island with Killua. Kite met both of them and told them that the Kakin Empire had hired him to do ecological research as part of a biological survey. He later found that the area was producing drugs and weapons to fight war against humans.

Kite kills Yunju, who was one of the members of the Ant group leader, and Hagya's entire division. That made all the leaders of the Chimera Ants pay attention, and when Kite came near the nest of the Ant Queen, Neferpitou came to attack them. Before dying, Kite helped Gon and Killua escape. In the scene, it was seen that Neferpitou was holding Kite's head after killing him.

However, Kite is reborn as a Chimera Ant, and Colt names him Reina after his late sister, but his name is later changed back to Kite.
