The latest Kagurabachi chapter saw a shocking twist in the narrative, with Samura deciding to eliminate Uruha and the other Enchanted Sword bearers from the Seitei War (including himself) because he considered them evil.
Seiichi Samura didn't want to repeat the sins and thought society would be better without Enchanted Blade wielders. Although he acknowledged Hishaku as an evil organization, he felt the Sword Saint and the other Sword Bearers were far more sinister than them.
That said, Uruha refused to throw away his life which his guardians died protecting. Therefore, he engaged in a duel to death with Samura, where the blind swordsman left him with a fatal wound. So, did Uruha die in Kagurabachi?
According to the latest Kagurabachi chapter, Yoji Uruha died at the hands of his former master, Seiichi Samura. The blind swordsman used the swift Iai White Purity Sword Technique to fatally cut down the ex-Kumeyuri user before he could even unsheath his sword. Samura then changed his blade to Tobiume and ended Uruha's misery.

Exploring Yoji Uruha's death in Kagurabachi
Takeru Hokazono dropped one of the most shocking chapters of Kagurabachi, titled Reunion on Monday, November 18, 2024. The chapter witnessed the tragic demise of Yoji Uruha, the former user of the Enchanted Blade, Kumeyuri in a death duel with Seiichi Samura.
In the previous chapter, the narrative saw Hiruhiko tell Chihiro that Samura had made a pact with Yura, Hishaku's leader, three years ago because he believed the Sword Saint and the other Sword Bearers were not heroes but evil. Shortly after that, Hiruhiko dropped the Kumeyuri blade to the ground and dashed forward to secure it.
Shockingly, the Hishaku sorcerer was able to activate the Enchanted Blade, implying that Samura had killed Uruha. The latest Kagurabachi chapter picked up the cliffhanger and revealed the events that took place in Senkutsuji temple seven minutes back.
Samura demonstrated the powers of his Tobimune Enchanted Blade to send everyone unconscious, except Uruha. He informed Uruha that he intended to kill the Sword Bearers, including himself because he believed they weren't the heroes who needed protection.
According to the latest chapter, the Sword Bearers had committed a grave sin eighteen years ago. They buried their sins and were lauded as heroes along with Kunishige Rokuhira. The Sword Bearers accepted a society built on their sins. However, Samura couldn't bear the youngsters, who looked up to them as heroes, dying for them.
The blind swordsman felt those youngsters' lives weighed more than the Sword Bearers. Hence, he was willing to collude with Hishaku if it meant eliminating the Enchanted Blade wielders. Samura planned to kill the Hishaku later since his ultimate aim was to root out evil.
Uruha, who listened to Samura's ideals, refused to throw away his life which his protectors at the Kokugoku fortress died for. Thus, the duo engaged in a duel to death. Samura wanted to give Uruha a fair chance of winning, so he didn't wield Tobimune.
Instead, he picked up a regular blade and took his stance. Samura and Uruha's death duel in Kagurabachi lasted only a fraction of a second, as the former demonstrated the Iai White Purity Technique to leave Uruha with a fatal gash on his chest. Samura was so quick that Uruha couldn't even get the time to unsheath his blade.
He fell to the ground, bleeding profusely. With dying breath, Uruha asked Samura whether he intended to shoulder the burden all alone. The blind swordsman said he did indeed since he didn't want anybody else to endure the hell. Samura then picked up the Tobimune Enchanted Blade and ended Uruha's life.
Seiichi Samura choosing the Tobimune to land the final blow on Uruha was poetic because wielding an Enchanted Blade means destroying evil. It aligned with the blind swordsman's vision that Enchanted Sword Bearers are evil. Therefore, it was only fitting for Samura to wield the Tobimune blade.
The significance of Uruha's death in Kagurabachi
On the other hand, Uruha's death marked a significant shift in the narrative, prompting various questions regarding the Sword Bearers and their real nature. The latest chapter raised a huge question about the Seitei War and the Enchanted Blade wielders' sin.
Interestingly, Uruha didn't refute Samura's claims about them hiding their sins. It's almost as if he knew his deeds deserved him a death. Yet, he didn't want to throw his life away easily, hence settling for the duel. Besides that, Uruha's death in Kagurabachi was a massive shock to Hakuri and Chihiro.
While lying on the ground, the former blamed himself for Uruha's death. He thought he should have pushed himself and retrieved the Kumeyuri Enchanted Blade. It probably wouldn't have mattered since Samura was superior to Uruha in terms of skill level. At any rate, Hakuri won't recover soon from his guilt.
At the same time, Hakuri used his last ounce of strength to summon Chihiro to the Senkutsuji Temple. Therefore, he will likely be incapacitated for the remainder of the arc. As for Chihiro, his ideals have been shattered. He couldn't imagine Samura to be a traitor.
Since his knowledge of the War Heroes and the Seitei War are limited (Kunishige never explained to him the full picture), he will likely want to acquire more information about them. However, Uruha's death has already shocked him to the core and brought his nightmare to reality.
Conclusion
With Uruha's death in Kagurabachi, the Sword Bearer Assassination Arc marks its actual beginning.
Now, Takeru Hokazono will probably explain more about the war and project Samura as this arc's primary antagonist/anti-hero.
