One of the major talking points of the Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian series is the relationship between Masachika Kuze and his mother, Yumi Suou. In episode 10 of the anime adaptation, fans witnessed the boy confronting his mother in the school's hallway while returning from the parent-teacher meeting with his grandfather.

Accompanied by her daughter, Yuki, Yumi Suou saw Masachika in the hallway and turned away her gaze. Masachika was visibly annoyed at seeing his mother, as he clenched his teeth in disgust. This begs the question: Does Masachika Kuze resent his mother in Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian?

According to the light novel series, Masachika Kuze shares a complex relationship with his mother. As a talented child, he craved his mother's appreciation, but he gradually noticed that his mother rewarded his efforts with hatred. At the same time, he blamed his mother for the divorce. Exploring the relationship between Masachika Kuze and his mother in Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian

The third and the fourth volumes of the Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian light novel series throw light into Masachika Kuze's relationship with his mother, Yumi Suou. According to the narrative, the boy resented his mother for not one but two reasons.

Born in the Suou family, Masachika Kuze exuded immense talent. His grandfather, Gensei Suou, left no stone unturned to ensure the boy had the best environment for his mental and physical development. Unlike others, Masachika topped in everything he touched with minimal effort.

However, having too much talent somehow backfired Masachika. He was so deeply engrossed in self-development that people gradually became scared of him. However, he had an innocent heart; throughout his childhood phase, Masachika sought his mother's affection and praise.

Aside from working hard for Yuki's sake, the boy wanted his mother to acknowledge his efforts. While Yumi used to praise his son, she started avoiding eye contact with him at some point in the narrative. She was scared that her son would become a mechanical being.

On the other hand, Yumi's actions led Masachika to believe he wasn't trying hard enough. Thus, he kept working hard, thinking his mother would be happy if he earned success. Then, one day, Masachika witnessed his mother having a heated exchange with his father.

The prologue chapter, A Past Best Forgotten, from Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian volume 4 subtly implies that Gensei Suou used to put immense pressure on Masachika's parents, which ultimately led to their quarrels.

Seeing his parents in such a state, Masachika thought everything would be fine if he worked harder. He learned his mother's favorite music piece to try and impress her. However, instead of praising the boy, Yumi snapped at him. Gradually, Masachika came to see his mother as a woman who rewarded his efforts with hate.

Aside from developing resentment toward his mother for her cold behavior and indifference toward him, Masachika felt his mother was the reason behind his parents' divorce. According to Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian volume 4's epilogue, A Past That Musn't Be Forgotten, Masachika's father sacrificed his dream to become a police officer so he could marry Yumi.

That's precisely why their divorce shocked Masachika so much. He couldn't believe how his mother, for whom his father sacrificed so much, could betray him. Masachika questioned why he and his father weren't rewarded for their hard work. However, later, Masachika realized his hatred was misdirected.

The boy thought he would live with his father and Yuki after his parents' divorce. However, Yuki wanted to stay by her mother's side. She thought her mother would be all alone if she left. Masachika realized Yuki was far stronger and more mature than he was.

Deep inside, he felt guilty for insulting his family. The boy thought it was he who broke the family, something his mother was trying to protect. However, it was perhaps too late for the boy to mend the strained relationship.

While Masachika still hates his mother, he feels he's equally to blame for their broken family. It remains to be seen in Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian light novels whether or not Masachika reconciles with his mother.
