Does Pochita have a true form in Chainsaw Man? Explored

Pochita, or Chainsaw Man, has been a surprise package since his introduction. Initially seen as a little orange dog-like creature with a chainsaw on its snout, Pochita became best pals with Denji when the latter gave Pochita some of his blood to survive. This formed a bond that couldn't be broken, and together, the pair lived through the toughest of times.

As the story progressed, we got to see more of Pochita and Denji and later, it was revealed that the dog form wasn't what the former truly was. From everything known so far, Pochita's true appearance is the black Chainsaw Man or the Hero of Hell form he takes, first seen when the pair battle Makima.

Pochita's Hero of Hell form, explored

Pochita's true form, the Hero of Hell form, is supposed to be what the actual Chainsaw Man looks like, based on everything we know so far. Appearance-wise, this form resembles a tall and broad humanoid Devil. He has four arms, with a chainsaw protruding from each arm.

Similar to his hybrid form, he has another chainsaw protruding from his head. He is much bigger than regular humans and his body is covered with black armor-like scales, with an intestine wrapped around his neck, connected to his stomach.

As for abilities, this form possesses immense physical attributes in terms of speed, strength, endurance, durability, and healing factor. He has displayed incredible feats in the battles he has fought. He tanked heavy hits from Makima, regenerated only from a beating heart, and unleashed powerful hits that desecrated buildings.

But Pochita's main ability, apart from embodying the fear of chainsaws, is what makes him so fearsome. Pochita possesses the power to erase Devils by consuming them. Once he eats them, the "concept" or fear they represent vanishes from the public's minds, while simultaneously wiping out their physical forms.

However, this power seemed to work a little differently later on. Due to Pochita having consumed so many Devils, the use of chainsaws was reduced to wood-cutting. Further, Kishibe doesn't recall events like the Holocaust, the Nazis, etc., meaning they were consumed. But then again, Makima could recall erased names, and the War Devil wanted Pochita to throw up the Nuclear Weapons Devil.

Hero of Hell form's appearances in Chainsaw Man

Pochita was in his Hero of Hell form when he fought against the Four Horsemen and the Weapon Hybrids in Hell. That is when he suddenly disappeared mid-battle and reappeared on Earth in his dog form. However, not much of that battle has been seen.

Next, we see Pochita's Hero of Hell form during the climactic battle against Makima and her servants during the Control Devil arc. He fights and defeats the Hell Devil in Hell (in whatever physical form it takes during this arc) before returning to Earth. Pochita encounters the anxious Kobeni Higashiyama, before battling Makima's brainwashed Weapon Hybrids and Division 7.

The Hero of Hell returns in the current arc, where Pochita takes over Denji to battle Public Safety. He makes quick work of them, before rampaging through the city, cutting and consuming Devils as he sees them. He soon gets attacked by Yoru (who has taken over Asa Mitaka's body).

In a flash, Chainsaw Man slices off her arms and seemingly goes in for the kill, but is blown away when Yoru resorts to something she didn't think she would—gauntlets from the Gun Devil and Tank Devil.
