The My Hero Academia epilogue is currently ongoing and there is a lot of focus on ending several plot points, such as how the Todoroki family storyline got a conclusion in the recent chapter 426. This begs the question of which characters deserve this level of attention, and Tenya Iida is one of them.

After all, he is one of Deku's closest friends, and his character arc at the beginning of the story connected him to some degree with Stain, an antagonist in the series.

However, this question regarding the My Hero Academia epilogue and Iida's role in it is a lot more complex than one may think. While he had a prominent role at the beginning of the story and even had an arc where he was the main focus, the truth of the matter is that he did lose a lot of relevance afterward, thus making this question all the more complicated because it depends on how each individual views his role in the manga.

Analyzing whether Tenya Iida deserves focus in the My Hero Academia epilogue

The truth of the matter is that the My Hero Academia epilogue is very unlikely to give Tenya Iida an entire chapter dedicated to him, especially considering there are about five left, as of this writing. Therefore, the most fans of this character can expect a few moments here and there with Deku and the rest of the class, but it doesn't seem likely that he is going to get a lot of focus.

Whether he deserves more focus or not is an entirely subjective opinion. While Iida has lost a lot of relevance since the Stain arc earlier in the series, he has always been there for Deku throughout the story, as shown during the conclusion of the protagonist's vigilante arc. He was also a support for Shoto Todoroki during the latter's final battle with Dabi.

Those moments were highly praised by the fandom and rightfully so, but there is no denying that Iida, by the time of the My Hero Academia epilogue, has become a bit of a background character.

That may seem harsh for his fans but author Kohei Horikoshi has diminished his contributions in a massive role, especially considering his role as one of Deku's first real friends in the story.

What could happen in the remaining chapters of the My Hero Academia epilogue

The My Hero Academia epilogue is currently focusing on giving characters a conclusion to their journeys, with the recent chapter 426 focusing heavily on the Todoroki family and ending their long-standing quarrel with Toya, also known as Dabi.

This chapter has been widely praised by the fandom and a lot of people are expecting other characters to receive similar treatment.

As of this writing, the most likely candidates to receive similar focus are Deku, Katsuki Bakugo, All Might, Ochako Uraraka, and perhaps a character dedicated to the remaining members of the League of Villains and the memory of Tomura Shigaraki, thus giving attention to the likes of Spinner and Himiko Toga. However, all of this is mere fan speculation at the moment.

Final thoughts

There is very little chance, as of this writing, that the My Hero Academia epilogue is going to give Tenya Iida a lot of attention. While this may disappoint a lot of fans, it is worth pointing out that the character's lack of focus has been a running issue in the series after the Stain arc.
