After Paul’s death, the second most devastating thing that broke Rudeus completely was learning that his mother had lost all of her memories and was unable to speak. With Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation season 2 ending with this shocking note, fans have grown concerned regarding whether Zenith will recover from her condition and regain her memories and speech.

Despite fans expecting her to get better in time, unfortunately, the answer is no, as Zenith continues to remain in a dream-like state, living her life as if viewing everything through a dream. Later, Rudeus takes his mother to his home, where she continues to live her remaining life.

After Paul’s death, Rudeus becomes the only remaining Greyrat from his father’s side, carrying on his legacy and the responsibilities he left on his shoulders. Rudeus also becomes the permanent guardian of both of his sisters. Lilia also moves to his house, to care for Zenith and others. Eventually, the circumstances also lead to Rudeus marrying Roxy, making her his second wife.

As per the light novel, which is way ahead of the anime’s current storyline, when Rudeus reported the news of Zenith being saved, but in a mentally invalid state, the latter’s mother, Claire, sent the former a letter to bring her over to Millis. Claire asserts to develop a cure for her daughter.

However, her approach to finding a cure was rather based on a fluke, where she drew similarities between Elinalis’s conditions and her daughter's. Claire proposes that similar to Elinalise, Zenith could also enter into constant carnal relationships that might cure her.

After learning about Claire’s intentions, Rudeus becomes immensely enraged to the extent that all nobles and ministers of the Millis region arrive to resolve the situation. Claire is eventually found to be going against Rudeus’ wishes but is stopped in time. She is later sentenced to imprisonment, which causes Zenith to slap Rudeus, despite her condition.

In Mushoku Tensei's light novel, it has been mentioned that Zenith later develops the ability to communicate, but only through telepathy, and that too with Lara, the daughter of Rudeus and Roxy. However, she remembers nothing from her past. For fans wondering, Zenith does not react to Paul’s death, which is one of the most saddening things in the storyline.
