Reviewing Dragon Ball Daima episode 3: Evaluating the latest episode of this legendary franchise
Dragon Ball Daima episode 3: A brief synopsis
Dragon Ball Daima episode 3 started where the previous one left off as Goku, Glorio, and Supreme Kai are heading to the Demon Realm to rescue Dende and defeat King Gomah, with said episode also introducing more lore of this world. It is revealed that there are three Demon Realms, and they can only reach the first one, the one where Gomah is, through non-traditional means.
The episode also reveals what the Third Demon Realm looks like, featuring a blocked path to the other levels, a type of gas in the air that makes people slower, such as the protagonist, and a statue of the former king, Dabura. It was also during this portion of the episode that it was revealed that Shin is part of the Glind race, belongs to the Second Demon Realm, and has never visited this one.
Eventually, they reach out to a hotel to spend the night where Glorio blackmails the owner, and they choose to go eat at a bar nearby since Goku is still hungry. The remainder of Dragon Ball Daima episode 3 features the protagonist and Glorio fighting with demons at the bar and a cliffhanger where they discover their ship was stolen the following day.
Narrative review of Dragon Ball Daima episode 3: More growth involving the series' world-building
Dragon Ball Daima episode 3 was probably the most important thus far in this series because it finally takes the protagonists to the Demon Realm, thus starting their adventure. Moreover, a running pattern of this project has been the massive effort to expand the franchise's lore, and this episode was no different, revealing more of Supreme Kai's origins, the mechanics of the three Demon Realms, and even elements such as the gas slowing people down.
There were some small bits of characterization that were quite logical, such as Goku wanting to walk around the Third Demon Realm and have more dinner, Supreme Kai's suspicions of Glorio, and the latter's attitude that seems to suggest he is hiding something. Furthermore, the series continues to stand out from most recent Dragon Ball products since the story is the main focus rather than just the fights.
It was a short episode in the sense that not a lot happened in terms of action and moving the plot forward but established a new conflict for the protagonists and the beginning of their journey.
Dragon Ball Daima episode 3: Reviewing the production, animation, soundtracks, and voice acting
For the most part, the voice cast remained quite efficient without a lot of standout moments, although the dialogue was quite natural and flew well throughout the episode. Perhaps one person who deserves credit is the voice of Glorio in Japanese, Koki Uchiyama, who gave the new character a lot of personality. Anime fans know him as Tomura Shigaraki in My Hero Academia, Kei Tsukishima in Haikyuu!!, and Rin Itoshi in Blue Lock.
When it comes to animation, it continues to be one of the strongest traits of the series thus far. The battle sequences at the bar are quite dynamic and maintain the kinetic energy from the original series in the manga, which goes to show that Toei has a good grasp of how fights in Dragon Ball work.
Dragon Ball Daima episode 3 continues to have a solid soundtrack that fits with the story of author Akira Toriyama. However, the music when Goku and Glorio were fighting the demons at the bar was a highlight thus far of the series and added the excitement that this series requires.
Final thoughts
Dragon Ball Daima episode 3 could be considered one of the most important in the series thus far since it introduces the Third Demon Realm and some of the mechanics of that world. It also developed more of Supreme Kai's doubts about Glorio and gave fans the chance to see Goku in action on a minor scale, with the animation doing quite a job.
