Dragon Ball Daima episode 4 started where the previous one left off as Goku, Glorio, and Shin were without a ship because the one they had was stolen. They travel across the land, get into a few fights, find a store with a method to help them travel known as Heaven's Seed, and Goku discovers that people can't fly with ease because of the gas in the air.

It is during this journey that the protagonist discovers that there are Dragon Balls in the Demon Realm and are guarded by the Tamagami, with Goku wanting to fight them. It is during this exchange that Shin's distrust of Glorio continues, especially because the latter smiles as he agrees to get them for an extra wish to help Dende just in case.

The party eventually reaches a town where Gomah's men are demanding heavy taxes from the citizens and are using a machine that extracts years of life from them as a punishment. Goku and a mysterious girl engage in battle to protect the citizens, with the latter reuniting with the party afterward, ending with this cliffhanger.

Narrative review of Dragon Ball Daima episode 4: Exploration, adventure, and some minor gripes

Dragon Ball Daima episode 4 kept the ball rolling in terms of plot and continues to add a lot of lore, such as the element of making flying harder, the Dragon Balls perhaps hailing from the Demon Realm, and smaller details such as the different bugs that can be used for healing, fusion, and more. This level of dedication to world-building is something that recent projects of the series lacked and is a welcomed addition.

There weren't any significant issues but rather some smaller gripes, such as Glorio showing a somewhat wider range of emotion despite maintaining a very stoic personality before, and the change doesn't seem justifiable. Moreover, the running gag of Goku being hungry has been used in all four episodes thus far and is no longer hitting the same way it should.

Beyond the introduction of the mysterious girl at the tail end of the episode, this one didn't move the plot forward all that much. However, the fighting sequences and several small nuggets of lore continue to be quite enjoyable to watch.

The voice cast remains quite solid, and they continue to be a good representation of each character's personality and the way they go about things. On the other hand, there weren't any elements worth pointing out in this regard.

In terms of the animation, one of the biggest highlights is the fact that it continues to be one of the most consistent elements of the series. The characters continue to move in a very fluid manner, and the action sequences, coupled with the choreography, were quite stellar in the most recent episode, as evidenced by the reactions of the fandom.

Dragon Ball Daima episode 4 continues to have a solid soundtrack that fits with the story of author Akira Toriyama. One particular highlight of the most recent episode was when the party flew with Heaven's Seed, with an instrumental version of the opening song being displayed during that exciting moment.

Final thoughts

Dragon Ball Daima episode 4 could be considered a transitional moment in the sense that the plot doesn't progress all that much except for the party meeting the mysterious girl who is bound to join them. On the other hand, the continuing lore and the different pieces of world-building are some of the biggest highlights of the series thus far.
