Dragon Ball Daima has been a very significant hit thus far, and several people have praised the animation, world-building, and story-focused approach. However, there has been a degree of criticism regarding how the series has been somewhat slow in pacing and has not reached the main conflict as of this writing, which has irked a section of the fandom.
While this is certainly a valid criticism and everyone is entitled to their opinions, Dragon Ball Daima seems to follow what Super did in its earlier episode but in a much more positive manner. This has pushed the story in a much stronger way, especially when taking into account that Daima is an original series while Super started by following the blueprint of the movies of the early 2010s.

Explaining why Dragon Ball Daima needs more time to move the story forward
When Super came out in the mid-2010s, the series took a very slow approach to storytelling, following the blueprint of the Battle of Gods and Resurrection F movies while adding more scenes and plots. It was a divisive decision since people were watching stories they already saw in a movie format by Toei Animation, although is worth pointing out that Daima has followed the same formula but in a stronger manner.
This time around, Daima is telling an original story that fans haven't seen before so there is a natural intrigue regarding what might happen next. Moreover, Super always had a strong focus on action and major fights between very powerful characters while this series has Goku and his party's adventures through the Demon Realm as the main focus.
As many people have mentioned since the series started, it is a callback to the early days of the franchise when author Akira Toriyama wrote it more as an adventure story rather than one focused on combat. The slower pacing helps to develop the Demon Realm and makes it feel a lot more alive and different from what audiences are used to, which is always a welcomed approach.
More details regarding Daima
Another major element that a lot of people need to consider is that Super is a series with multiple arcs while Dragon Ball Daima is only one arc, focusing on Goku and his friends trying to rescue Dende from King Gomah in the Demon Realm. Therefore, that gives this project a lot more time to develop certain concepts and ideas, making the slower pacing a bit more digestible.
Both series had their detractors from the get-go but Super probably suffered a lot more because of the inconsistent animation and the sheer nature of telling stories that people already saw. Instead, Daima is a lot more consistent with its animation and is trying to tell a story that, in a way, moves away from what a lot of people have gotten used to with the franchise.
Final thoughts
Dragon Ball Daima has been a major hit thus far, as mentioned earlier, and the slow build-up is probably a step in the right direction. After a period of inconsistencies with Super, this strong creative vision has been a welcomed change of pace for the franchise.
