A set of Dragon Ball fanart amazes the community with some remarkable character redesigns

An artist on X named @Yotakuboi recently posted a few fanarts he made of author Akira Toriyama's series, and the post went viral, leaving fans amazed. These were redesigns of some of the most popular characters of the series, giving them forms or clothes that give them somewhat different looks and feels.

An example of that was the artist's redesign of Goten and Trunks, maintaining their youthful and lively personalities with some alterations to their clothes and hair. The artist managed to display his own style while retaining some of the key features of Toriyama's original designs.

Something similar can be said of Piccolo's redesign, retaining most of the physical traits that have defined his character over the years with some minor changes. This goes to show how the artist managed to capture his design while adding his own spin on things, which is part of the reason it has received so much praise from the fandom.

Reactions online

Perhaps the two most radical and surprising changes of the redesigns were the Shenron-like form of Piccolo and the different forms of Cell. The iconic Namekian gains now a more dragon-like appearance, which could suggest a way to further emphasize his connection with that creature since his race is the creator of the Dragon Balls.

Cell is perhaps the most notorious change since it starts with his original form, which is not very different from what the manga and anime showed. However, the following semi-perfect and perfect forms are a far cry from what was shown in the source material and seem to be a more natural evolution of his original form, which is a very interesting direction to take with the character.

"Dope designs. Wouldve been dope of they had a Shenron like villain along with the Super dragon balls," someone said.
"I love that you kept Cell's bug appearance through his forms," another person said.
"I love that piccolo shenron design too much. We must find a way to make it canon," someone else said.

As mentioned earlier, this is another example of how committed this fandom is and how they always come up with amazing fan concepts and art pieces that deserve a lot of praise.
