The Vivre Card databook is an encyclopedia-style publication, designed to complement the One Piece manga. The format is based on a collection of cards, each of which provides information about a certain character. In most cases, One Piece Vivre Card merely summarizes well-known facts or topics of minor importance, such as the characters’ birthdays, heights, and the like.
Nevertheless, there are times when this medium is used to reveal significant details that the manga couldn’t properly focus on. It should be noted that One Piece author, Eiichiro Oda, doesn’t personally write the Vivre Card databook, but is heavily involved in the project. The mangaka has explicitly acknowledged the databook as a reliable source of information.
Oda has validated the content of all One Piece databooks, including the Vivre Card, and encouraged readers to use these supplementary materials to get detailed information. On July 4, 2024, a new batch of the One Piece Vivre Card was released, containing information about the Straw Hat Pirates, as well as important characters such as Sabo and Jewelry Bonney.

The Egghead Straw Hat Pirates and the other main subjects featured in the latest One Piece Vivre Card
Monkey D. Luffy
Luffy’s card mentions his recent achievements of freeing Wano from Kaido’s oppression and becoming a Yonko. It also cites his newfound Gear 5 transformation. When using Gear 5, Luffy brings joy and freedom by laughing to the rhythm of the “Drums of Liberation”, a unique tone that matches his heartbeat.
The Gear 5 mode effectively turns Luffy into a “Warrior of Liberation” who illuminates the dawn of the world. As Kaido brought Luffy to the brink of death, the Gum-Gum Fruit manifested its true power, revealing the legendary features of the Mythical Human-Human Fruit, Model: Nika.
This awakening increased both the strength and versatility of Luffy’s rubber-like body, allowing him to reshape things through mere imagination. Taking into account Luffy’s boundless fantasy, this is truly the peak of his power. Of course, the Gear 5 mode also alters Luffy’s appearance, as his body becomes white, like that of the original “Sun God” Nika.
Luffy’s new abilities are limitless, as he can do anything his mind suggests to him, including turning himself into a giant, catching lightning and throwing it, and shapeshifting the surroundings. However, with great power comes great responsibility, as using Gear 5 causes immense strain on Luffy’s body, consuming all his energies in a brief time.
Upon arriving in Egghead, Luffy faced off against two powerful foes as well as old acquaintances, i.e., Rob Lucci, now a formidable CP0 agent, and Admiral Borsalino “Kizaru”. As opposed to what happened two years before the present One Piece narration, Luffy held his own seamlessly.
Despite his incredible strength and accomplishments, however, Luffy can’t help but get scolded by Nami like a helpless child. What’s even more shocking, the One Piece Vivre Card mentioned that Luffy takes a bath only once a week.
Roronoa Zoro
Zoro’s card begins by mentioning his paramount role as the second-in-command of Luffy, who is now a full-fledged Yonko. As the formidable “King of Hell”, Zoro aims to increase his strength and achieve his ambitions. Still, as per the Vivre Card, he bathes only once per week, just like Luffy. In addition to their combat prowess, both should improve their self-care.
As the card remembers, Zoro fought valiantly against Kaido and Big Mom. He then challenged King, the strongest subordinate of Kaido. The subsequent fight saw Zoro unleashing his dormant power, which he used to subdue the Enma sword and defeat King. It is explicitly stated that Zoro brought Enma under his control.
During the same battle, Zoro released black lightning from his swords, revealing his insane potential as a Conqueror’s Haki user. Shortly after, he vowed to become the “King of Hell”. As Zoro mastered Enma and showcased his newfound Haki powers, even the Lunarian survivor King didn’t stand a chance.
The Vivre Card continues by noting how Zoro lived up to his status as the second-in-command of the Straw Hat Pirates in Egghead. In particular, he provided precious insight for his captain, and overwhelmed his opponents.
When Luffy and the others were worried about the fate of Nefertari Vivi, Zoro made up for the captain’s lack of strictness by scolding him and everyone else. Zoro later showcased his strength by blocking Kaku’s attack even while being sound asleep, and fending off the likes of Lucci.
Nami
Nami’s card notes that, unlike Luffy and Zoro, she bathes every day. Admittedly, this is what was expected from a refined lady like the “Cat Burglar”. The card also mentions a few details of doubtful importance, such as the measurements of her bust, waist, and hip.
The section recalls how Nami just gained a valuable partner as, during the Onigashima Raid, she managed to incorporate Zeus into his special Clima-Tact weapon. With the help of Zeus, Nami inflicted the finishing blow to Ulti, making her pay for having hurt Otama. Nami is filled with compassion for children.
However, this can also work against her. Despite being faced with S-Shark, one of the Seraphim cyborgs, Nami couldn’t bring herself to attack her opponent as the latter looked like a child Jinbe. Fortunately, Zeus is always ready to aid Nami, increasing the power of her lightning-based techniques.
Sanji
Sanji’s card recalled how the former’s body changed during the Onigashima Raid, revealing the trademark genetic features of the Vinsmoke Family. Fearing to become a ruthless evildoer like his brothers, Sanji destroyed his Raid Suit. However, his body had already evolved.
Sanji entrusted his life and the lives of his friends to Zoro, asking the latter to stop and, if needed, kill him, should he ever become a cold-hearted killer like the Vinsmokes. Afraid of losing control of himself, Sanji didn’t want to risk hurting his friends, and knew that Zoro was the only one who had both the strength and the resolve to take him down.
Even though Sanji’s body changed, to the point where his eyebrows turned in the opposite direction like those of his brothers, he didn’t end up becoming like them. He remained chivalrous and gallant towards women, as seen during the Egghead Arc, when he rushed to the aid of Nami and Bonney without hesitation.
By combining the exoskeleton he gained from his Vinsmoke genes with the usage of Armament Haki, Sanji became able to use even hotter and more powerful techniques, evolving the Diable Jambe into the much stronger Ifrit Jambe.
Usopp, Chopper, and Nico Robin
Usopp’s card mentions his continuous improvement. From a coward who constantly ran away, he has grown into a competent fighter who strives to become a brave warrior of the sea. Overjoyed to learn that the Straw Hat crew’s next destination is Elbaf, the homeland of the Giants, he feels more confident than ever.
In his card, Chopper is described as a kind-hearted doctor who is ready to heal anyone, regardless of whether his patients are friends or foes. During the Onigashima Raid, he utilized his medical skills to overcome Queen’s virus. Upon arriving at Egghead, Chopper was especially excited by Vegapunk’s technology and its potential applications in the medical field.
Robin’s card recalls how she now embraces the voices of the past, while living the future with her cherished crewmates. In Wano, Nico Robin learned the whereabouts of both a Road Poneglyph and the Ancient Weapon Pluton. However, her delight was even greater in Egghead, as she learned that her beloved friend Saul survived, and that he managed to protect the legacy of the Ohara scholars.
Franky, Brook, and Jinbe
As for Franky, his card describes the former as a shipwright who created powerful weapons that can knock out even an Ancient Zoan user. To obtain such an achievement, Franky used the knowledge he gained by studying Vegapunk’s technology during the two-year timeskip.
Brook’s card mentions how he combines a freezing swordsmanship with a passionate soul. In Wano, Brook helped the exhausted Robin, while in Onigashima he stayed behind the others to assist Zoro in protecting the Thousand Sunny.
Finally, Jinbe’s card cites his imperturbability. Calm and collected, he remains unfazed even in a storm. He is a reliable individual who supports his comrades, never losing his composed demeanor. However, if someone insults the history of Fish-Men, Jinbe would unleash his anger by controlling the water in the air to generate tremendous shockwaves.
Sabo
Sabo’s card notes how he has spent his entire life surrounded by D. carriers. There are very few people who have the initial D. in their names, but, despite his young age, Sabo came into contact with many of them. He grew up with Luffy and Ace, became the trusted subordinate of Dragon, and encountered Nefertari Cobra.
The card recalls how this extraordinary fate may be a coincidence, or perhaps something more. In any case, the false reports from the latest Reverie have granted Sabo a reputation for being the “Flame Emperor” who ignited the flames of revolution across the world.
Upon infiltrating the Holy Land of Mary Geoise, Sabo declared war on the wicked Celestial Dragons. However, the overwhelming might of Imu and the Five Elders left him outmatched, forcing him to flee. He was then falsely charged with the murder of Cobra.
Although displeased with this fake reputation, Sabo accepted it as it noted that it was fueling the people’s morale. Nowadays, his resolve towards the revolution is more steadfast than ever. Even though Sabo has a price of 600 million berries on his head, the Vivre Card says that his current bounty is unknown, implying that it was recently raised as a result of his “Flame Emperor” reputation.
Jewelry Bonney
Bonney’s card recalls how, despite being just a 12-year-old girl, she bravely went out to the sea in search of her adoptive father, Bartholomew Kuma. Distinguished by her voracious appetite, Bonney made a name for herself.
The daughter of Ginny, Bonney was raised by Kuma, who loved her as the only memento of her beloved friend. Tormented by the same Blue Sapphire Scale that took her mother’s life, Bonney dreamed of exploring the world together with Kuma, whom she considered her father.
Thanks to Vegapunk, Bonney overcame her awful illness. However, she couldn’t live with Kuma, as Saint Jaygarcia Saturn had blackmailed the latter into becoming a mindless cyborg at the service of the World Government. After setting sail to save Kuma, Bonney arrived on Egghead, where she explored the heartbreaking memories of her adoptive father.
Finally, the One Piece Vivre Card also delves into Bonney’s Devil Fruit powers, noting how she is the perfect person to use them, as she is a young girl with vivid, fertile imagination. As such, she can exploit limitless possibilities for her Distorted Future technique.
