The Bleach and Demon Slayer series have had their places solidified among the best anime to come out in their respective eras. At the same time, Tite Kubo's series has been part of the Big Three anime that popularized the entire medium.
But Bleach remains the only series whose place within the Big Three is regularly questioned by newer anime fans. Many posts on social media have recently surfaced mentioning how Bleach doesn't deserve its place within the Big Three, eliciting reactions from the fans of this beloved series.
Demon Slayer fans try to discredit Bleach's Big 3 membership
Discussions and slander of Tite Kubo's series have recently resurfaced on social networking sites. Although the reasons are unclear, it might be because My Hero Academia, one of the new generation Big Three, is reaching its conclusion soon.
Recently, a Twitter post compared the sales of Demon Slayer and Tite Kubo's most famous series. Despite being one of the original Big Three anime, the author remarked that Tite Kubo's series would struggle in such a comparison.
Although the fans of Tite Kubo's series have acclimated to the constant barrage of slander, this particular comparison managed to gain a genuine reaction from the fandom due to its simplicity and low effort.
Fans' reaction to the post
One fan mentioned how the entire post is eerily similar to the Drake and Kendrick beef, where Drake fans used Drake's overwhelming stream numbers to devalue the impact of Kendrick's songs.
A few other fans also mentioned that the sales number does not matter since the impact that Tite Kubo's series has had is irrefutable. The fan also mentioned how the word "Bankai" alone is more iconic than anything Demon Slayer ever has.
"Point is culture is more important than sales. Nothing in DS will be as iconic as “Bankai” and that’s facts," one fan said.
"Not even just that, but the big 3 carried the industry to mainstream popularity for trash series like demon slayer to even make those sales," another fan said.
A few other fans mentioned how the comparison is unnecessary since Koyoharu Gotouge has no qualms about Tite Kubo's series, and Gotouge has also made fanarts of Tite Kubo's characters. Other fans mentioned how the hating Tite Kubo series has recently become a trend.
"Considering that Gotouge has never said anything bad about Bleach and she even made Bleach fanart, this is… unnecessary," one fan mentioned.
"It’s honestly becoming a trend to hate on bleach now," another fan mentioned.
Although Tite Kubo's series has its downsides and upsides, it is important to note that it inarguably deserves its place within the Big Three, along with One Piece and Naruto.
Tite Kubo was one of the first breakthrough anime series that popularized anime and paved the way for other series to bloom in the newfound mainstream popularity of the media. Currently, the TYBW arc is being animated and has managed to grab the attention of both old and new fans.
