Brief Recap of Failure Frame Episode 1
Failure Frame Episode 1 started by introducing the main character Mimori Touka and Okito Academy's Class 2-C. Everyone from the Class President, Sogou Ayaka to the delinquent, Oyamada Shougo, is introduced in turn. It established how Touka's parents used to abuse him and a few of his classmates are no better.
Everything seemingly changes in an instant once the entire class finds themselves summoned to the fantastical world of Alion. Here, the goddess Vicius beseeches them for aid against the returning threat of the Demon Empire. They are all tested, with a few including Ayaka and the elite upperclassman Kirihara Takuto ranking the highest at S-Rank.
Trouble looms for Touka, however, as he's brought before everyone to be disposed of. His rank is E-Rank, which translates to "trash tier" as Vicius cruelly dubs him. With nobody helping him, and those that do being harshly punished, Touka finds himself trapped in The Ruins of Disposal. The Ruins are a hellish, pitch-black disposal area for criminals and lower heroes alike infested with monsters.
After several close calls against a cockatrice and a minotaur, Touka uses his ailment-inflicting powers to save his life and damage the encroaching monsters. With a head full of steam and his mind on revenge, Touka insists he will escape this ruin and get revenge on Vicius for this unfair treatment.
What to expect from Failure Frame episode 2 (Speculative)
As there's no preview for Failure Frame episode 2 as of the time of writing, not even a preview in the end credits of episode 1, this will be speculation. Considering that the first episode ended with a shot of a blonde-haired elven girl bathing, and that said girl is prominent in the trailers for the series, chances are the audience is going to get to know her as early as episode 2.
If not, then the audience better strap in for the journey out of the Ruins of Disposal as the next few chapters of the manga depicted. Touka himself says it feels like he's in a Dark Souls game, with many enemies all around him and hardly any area for reprieve. He'll likely begin testing the limits of his abilities, figuring out how they work and their duration.
If Failure Frame Episode 2 continues to expand on its manga as Episode 1 did, it may not just be Touka that gets development or screen time. Chapter 3 of the manga showed one of Touka's classmates, Kashima Kobato, in similarly dire straits being bullied by other people from Class 2-C. She may or may not show up in episode 2, if not episode 3.
