The review for Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest episode 12 was positive overall, as it gave viewers plenty of reasons to be excited. Initially, when the season began, fans’ expectations were mismanaged, since they expected better animation quality owing to the change in animation studios. However, this left the fanbase sorely disappointed.
Now that J.C. Staff has shown the viewers what they can expect, the animation quality seems to have improved with episode 12 in particular. The action sequences were underwhelming at first, however, this episode instilled some faith in fans, especially with the fight that took place between Wendy and the Diabolos guild member.

Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest episode 12 review: Exciting fight sequences
Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest episode 12 ensured an entertaining string of fight scenes which kept the entire fanbase entertained. The issue with the previous episode was that too many fights took place at the same time. The editing for that episode was quite bad, since it implemented far too many cuts, not giving importance to each and every fight.
However, that wasn’t the case with Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest episode 12, since it gave each fight enough importance. The fight that took place between Natsu Dragneel and Wraith was satisfying to watch since it carried with it plenty of emotional content as well.
Wraith was a former member of Fairy Tail and he was reminded of his bond with Makarov, the current guild master. This was done in a very Fairy Tail-esque fashion—combining action, emotional content, and humor, all into one package.
Furthermore, there was a fight involving Laxus and Kiria. While it was decided in an instant, there was a considerable amount of anticipation which made the fight quite enticing. Additionally, the short fight sequence featuring Cana and Gray Fullbuster was hilarious, since the former wasn’t under the White Mage’s hypnosis, all thanks to her alcohol addiction.
Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest episode 12 review: A prime example of an episode with good pacing
Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest episode 12 is a great example of what good pacing looks like. The episode featured plenty of fight scenes, which might not necessarily be a good thing. When multiple fights are all taking place at the same time, there is room for error by packing too much content in just one episode.
This episode had many fight sequences, but it also gave fans a breather by incorporating hilarious interactions. The use of comedic relief is quite important in a series like this, where fights are constant.
Not only was the editing perfect, but the animation studio also ensured the ideal dosage of exposition, to make sure fans have context with respect to certain important elements. Lucy’s explanation of Cana’s magic cards was vital since it was an essential part of her plan to save her comrades, as well as the Aldoron - the Wood Dragon God.
Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest episode 12 review: The series continues to employ gratuitous fan service
Despite the fanbase’s complaints regarding the fan service, the animation studio continues to incorporate it. In this case, Erza’s method of neutralizing the situation involved her going topless in front of Jellal. She used the body tape to tie Jellal, after appealing to his emotional side in order to free herself from his binds.
The frequency and intensity of these so-called fan service moments have had a negative impact on how the series is perceived. This is a recurring issue, that will most likely not be addressed by the animation studio.
