Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest episode 4 review has been rather poor and fans weren’t particularly fans of the way it was adapted. The manga counterparts of the episode were quite interesting to read. Additionally, there were high hopes for this installment of the series since J.C. Staff was responsible for the animation production.

However, the animation was rather lazy and the fight that took place between Natsu, Wendy, and the Fifth Generation Dragon Slayers needed to be done justice. Here’s a comprehensive review of the latest episode, breaking down the individual elements that stood out and those that needed work.

Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest episode 4 review: The Good

There were very few elements in the episode that stood out. The interactions that took place between the likes of Natsu, Wendy, and Erza were something fans liked. The voice actors did a good job of portraying the sickness that the original Dragon Slayers were suffering from.

Additionally, Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest episode 4 also introduced an old character from the original series, Brandish. She was a member of the Spriggan 12 and was considered a massive threat. Brandish was quite powerful on the battlefield, with very few being able to match her magic abilities.

Her conversation with Lucy Heartfilia was quite enjoyable. She also lent a hand upon Lucy’s request and announced that she would be going after the Aquarius key, despite considering Lucy her rival.

The episode also focused on revealing Touka's true identity. Seeing a character have two personalities was quite intriguing to watch. These were the only positive elements that fans enjoyed in the latest episode.

Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest episode 4 review: Botched fight sequences

J.C. Staff had the opportunity to shine and show the fanbase what they can expect in the coming episode. However, this wasn’t the case, as the animation studio displayed extremely lazy animation once again.

When Erza and Kiria first fought, there was some dynamism to that fight. However, this fight sequence showed no variety in camera angles, which made it extremely boring to watch.

The fight involving the Dragon Slayers in Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest episode 4 was quite poor as well. Natsu Dragneel finally managed to get past the Dragon Armor that Madmole had. The scorching heat that managed to melt through his armor was poorly animated. They froze a frame and animated just the flames.

The punch that knocked Skullion Raider out, lacked the effects that showed the weight behind the attack. Overall, J.C. Staff fumbled the fight sequence here.

Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest episode 4 review: Erza’s Dragon Slayer blade revelation was ruined

Erza had Wendy cast a spell, that gave her a Dragon Slayer blade. This was going to give her an edge against a strong foe, and it looked like the tides were finally turning in her favor.

However, the reveal itself was poorly animated. They managed to do the reveal quickly, without spending any time providing fans with a build-up. They could have spent more time showing the formation of the blade. This in the manga was considered as one of the highlights of the chapter.

Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest episode 4 review was quite poor overall and there were plenty of areas that needed improvement. The animation was extremely subpar. There was no use of dynamic camera angles, which made the entire fight sequence fall flat.

The anime adaptation neglected plenty of details that were present in the respective manga chapters. J.C. Staff needs to do better if they wish to see a better reception from fans of the series.

Stay tuned for more anime and manga news as 2024 progresses.
