Frieren: Beyond Journey's End chapter 136: Sein reunites with Frieren and saves Stark

Frieren: Beyond Journey's End chapter 136, titled Reunion, begins with Sein sensing Frieren's mana while walking through the streets. He wonders why the Goddess is so whimsical. Meanwhile, Fern asks the elven mage whether she has finished analyzing the poison.

Frieren says Stark has been reacting to the poison in a way she hasn't seen. Fern suggests they go to the Church for assistance, but Frieren feels it'll be too far. Moreover, she thinks crossing many of the major streets, with the long-ranged archers waiting for them will be risky.

Besides that, the elven mage tells Fern in Frieren: Beyond Journey's End chapter 136 that she is concerned by the enemy's use of Goddess magic. As such, she can't waive off the possibility of their enemy being involved with the church. Fern, who has been listening to Frieren's discourse, feels they need an antidote.

She thinks the enemy must have it. Frieren seconds her mage apprentice's speculation, but since they are in the town, she feels they should seek an alternative cure. Fern is alarmed by Frieren's nonchalant approach to Stark's situation in Frieren: Beyond Journey's End chapter 136.

However, the elven mage clearly states that they can't let their mistakes become the cause of innocent civilian's distress, especially in the Imperial Capital, known as mankind's greatest magical civilization. Frieren and Fern's conversation in the chapter is suddenly interrupted by Sein, who enters the inn.

After having a nostalgic reunion with the elven mage, Sein tends to Stark's wound and uses his priest magic on the boy. Interestingly, Fern has no idea about the whole situation. When she enquires, Frieren reveals that when they were fleeing from the archers, she noticed Sein's mana.

As such, she fled in his direction. She also emitted some mana to alert the priest. Since they were being pursued by the Goddess's magic, there was no benefit in concealing their mana in the first place. Moreover, Sein isn't the Shadow Warriors' target unlike them. Therefore, it was the only way to safely meet up.

The narrative for Frieren: Beyond Journey's End chapter 136 shifts the focus to Sein, who uses his priest magic to save Stark from mortal danger. He says the boy is lucky to survive the poison's lethality. The elven mage and Fern express their gratitude to the priest.

During their conversation, Sein reveals he is in the Imperial Capital to find his childhood best friend, Gorilla. Yet, more than narrating his story, he wants to know about Frieren's situation. Frieren: Beyond Journey's End chapter 136 then cuts to Lore, speculating that Frieren must be hiding within the deserted housing.

She orders Gazelle to go there but tells him not to chase them too far. Elsewhere, Sein learns that Frieren and her party don't even know who they are up against. Yet, they have already been detected, and hence being chased down. He feels it's concerning how well everything has been coordinated.

As such, he offers his assistance. He receives a town map from Frieren and uses his magic to pinpoint the enemy priest's location. However, Sein feels they can't fire magic upon that area. Likewise, Frieren knows her chasers won't do anything drastic to cause an uproar.

Suddenly, Gazelle infiltrates the building and attacks Fern. Although Stark is injured, he quickly intercepts the blade and throws Gazelle off-guard. He also deflects Wolf's arrow to save Fern.

Shortly after that, he loses his consciousness. Sein feels it's astonishing how the boy can move even after being struck with lethal poison. Meanwhile, Frieren tells Fern that the enemy's weakness is their sole reliance on the Goddess's magic.

The mage apprentice then feels if they strike the headquarters, the enemy party will be immobilized. The elven mage seconds Fern's opinion. Frieren: Beyond Journey's End chapter 136 ends with Frieren asking Fern a rhetorical question about whether she's up to the challenge.
