Jujutsu Kaisen has been one of the most popular anime series in recent years, with even celebrities referencing the series. While many celebrities like Samuel L. Jackson and Michael B. Jordan have been well-known for their appreciation of the medium, Megan Thee Stallion has been one of the most vocal in expressing her appreciation in recent years.
Megan Thee Stallion has become one of the most prominent figures in the Jujutsu Kaisen and the wider anime fandom for making direct references to Gojo and quoting lines from Adam McArthur, Yuji's English voice actor in the Jujutsu Kaisen anime.
Although her actual interest in anime has been questioned by some in the anime community, her recent interview with Billboard, released on September 4, 2024, solidified her knowledge of the medium.
Megan Thee Stallion proves her long-standing interest in Jujutsu Kaisen and various older anime in her latest interview
Megan Thee Stallion's recent interview with Billboard on YouTube pitted her against a slew of questions related to many popular and rather forgotten series, reaffirming her position as an actual fan of the medium.
Given that most of her recent cosplays have been from Jujutsu Kaisen, she was questioned about the name of the technique that allows Gojo to create the unbreachable barrier around himself, as well as the name of his best friend.
Both were answered correctly, with "Infinity" and "Geto" being the respective answers. Despite the series being one of the most popular, the individual names of Gojo's abilities or his actual friendship hadn't been revealed in the first season of the anime, which reaffirmed Megan Thee Stallion's research into the series.
Questions related to My Hero Academia included inquiries about the nurse working at U.A. High School, the explanation of Overhaul's abilities, and the actual setting of the story. Her answers were correct, further reaffirming her as a true otaku, especially since Overhaul's abilities were revealed much later in the series, while Recovery Girl, the nurse at U.A. High School, is a side character with very little screen time or mention.
One of the most surprising moments of the interview came during the questions about Jonathan Joestar's age at the start of the Phantom Blood manga, which was released in 1987 with an anime adaptation airing in 2012. Megan Thee Stallion's correct answer of "12 years old" further reaffirmed her interest in older series alongside newer, more popular ones.
Megan Thee Stallion has been a long-standing fan of anime with her numerous cosplays ranging from the Sailor Moon series to Soul Eater's Death the Kid. She has previously presented the Anime of the Year Award at the 2024 Crunchyroll Anime Awards while wearing an outfit inspired by Burno Bucciarati's outfit.
Final thoughts
The interview is currently available for viewing on YouTube, with many of Megan Thee Stallion's answers serving as proof of her status as a "true otaku." While the Jujutsu Kaisen anime has been one of the most popular series on the planet, it will be ending soon in late September 2024, with chapter 271 being the final chapter.
