Chainsaw Man chapter 172 recently came out and was very action-focused, with the character of Denji making a total display of his Hero of Hell form. While Public Safety had created a new Special Division to deal with him, they were no match for the Chainsaw Devil, as he defeated them with ease. The author Tatsuki Fujimoto drew a panel that is bound to be as iconic as the Darkness Devil one.

The Darkness Devil panel has, in a way, transcended the Chainsaw Man franchise. Additionally, a lot of people not familiar with the series have seen the page with the two astronauts' bodies torn in half. In that regard, the recent panel of the Hero of Hell holding several heads of the Special Division members had a very similar impact on the fandom. It also shows them that Fujimoto is perhaps reaching that peak once again.

Chainsaw Man chapter 172 displays a panel similar to the Darkness Devil one

The vast majority of the recent chapter 172 was focused on Denji, now in his Hero of Hell form, going up against the new Special Division that Public Safety created to deal with him. The result of the battle went as most readers were expecting, with the Chainsaw Devil making quick work of his enemies while also creating a panel that has become quite popular on X.

This panel shows the Hero of Hell holding the heads of the Devils he has killed in this battle, with a front shot angle and black background that only add to the ominous feel of the scene. A lot of fans have also taken the moment to claim that this panel is reminiscent of the feeling of terror that the Darkness Devil had in the first part of the manga.

Author Tatsuki Fujimoto has always been known and praised for his paneling and identifiable art style but some of the sequences he has drawn have become iconic in modern manga as well. The Darkness Devil one, with the images of the astronauts torn apart and the shadows in the background, has probably become the most memorable panel in the entire franchise.

Reactions online

This recent Chainsaw Man panel, and the chapter as a whole, had a lot of positive receptions from the fandom, especially because of the art. A lot of people have felt that Fujimoto's art in the second part was declining when compared to the first one but the recent panel was a good example that the mangaka can still produce some truly amazing moments.

Furthermore, the display of the Hero of Hell also served to remind people of how powerful Pochita is and how much of a difference there is between him and most Devils in the series. So, it is going to be interesting to see how these recent events pan out for the Chainsaw Devil and Public Safety.

"I still think Darkness Devil is one of the best panels in manga history but this goes so damn hard," someone said.
"This is definitely not on the same level of horror as Darkness devil. Because its not supposed to. This is more of 'thats f... metal' type panel like the curse devil," another person said.
"Close Enough, welcome back Part 1," someone else said.

Final thoughts

There is no denying that Chainsaw Man chapter 172 surprised a lot of fans for the right reasons and the Hero of Hell helped with that. Furthermore, it shows Fujimoto can still create shocking panels.
