Boruto: Two Blue Vortex chapter 14 was released on September 21, 2024. While the chapter primarily focused on the interrogation of the protagonist, the climax showcased the God Trees back in action again, but this time in the Hidden Sand Village, where the newly awakened Ryu God Tree took down Gaara and his son Shinki.
Ironically, this was a reminder of the original Naruto series where the One-tail Jinchuriki also faced the same treatment, be it against Lee during the Chunin exams or be it against the Akatsuki as the first jinchuriki whose tailed beast was extracted. Gaara was yet again used as a punching bag in the sequel series despite being one of the strongest characters.

Boruto: Two Blue Vortex chapter 14: Exploring Gaara's Unfortunate Fate
Boruto: Two Blue Vortex chapter 14 focused on the protagonist's interrogation after Konohamaru and his team captured him in the previous chapter. The interrogation ended with the protagonist making a swift mistake in the room and also the village with the help of Mitsuki and Shikamaru.
After this incident, Shikamaru, while talking to Sarada and Sumire, received a call from Kankuro, who requested immediate help as the God Trees were attacking the Hidden Sand Village. Moreover, they had taken down Gaara and his adoptive son, Shinki, meaning that there was no protector who could protect the village from danger.
Despite being a Kazekage (the leader of the Hidden Sand Village), Gaara has often been used as a punching bag from the very start of the series (the Narutoverse). His defeat at the hands of the newly awakened God Tree, named Ryu, isn't something that surprising.
Gaara was introduced as a monster who had the potential to kill Jounin Shinobi despite being a little kid. During the Chunin Exams' final round, Gaara was to go against Rock Lee, and as expected, he underestimated the Hidden Leaf Shinobi because he had no affinity for ninjutsu.
As the fight began, Rock Lee showcased his speed, surprising everyone. However, things changed when Rock Lee took over his body weights and flew near Gaara, so his sand shield was also not working against the Hidden Leaf shinobi.
Lee then continued beating him and he was indeed used as a punching bag for the first time he was born. Fast forward to the Naruto Shippuden series, Gaara was now cornered by a Deidara, an Akatsuki member, who wanted to kidnap him and extract his tailed beast for their grand plan.
As expected, Gaara gave his all against Deidara, but the Akatsuki member's battle IQ and explosive clay outsmarted the Kazekage, and he was caught. The next three days were used to extract the one-tail from him, after which he died. Fortunately, the protagonist and shinobi from the Hidden Sand Village arrived in time, and Granny Chiyo gave up her life to revive Gaara.
Similar to these scenarios, Gaara could be facing the same situation as indicated by Boruto: Two Blue Vortex chapter 14 as the God Tree Ryu could have made Gaara his target, just like how the other God Trees have made theirs. This could also be an indication that Gaara could die in the next chapter, thus leading to Ryu achieving perfection after he consumes the Kazekage.
