Gege may be building up the Six Eyes' return in Jujutsu Kaisen, but not via Gojo's revival

Jujutsu Kaisen has only a couple of manga chapters left before ending, and the return of several characters who seemed dead has resulted in people asking whether Satoru Gojo is returning or not. His comeback has been desired by a large portion of the fandom for quite some time, with several theories about it, including a recent one stating that his Six Eyes are returning but not him.

As most Jujutsu Kaisen fans know by now, Gojo's Six Eyes are something he has had from birth, and each generation has had its own users since centuries ago. Therefore, it isn't out of the question that author Gege Akutami is going to make a comeback for this ability, thus emphasizing that the never-ending cycle of the story is going to continue in some shape or form.

Explaining how the Six Eyes could return in Jujutsu Kaisen and not Gojo

There has been a lot of speculation regarding how Satoru Gojo could come back into the story, although a recent theory on Reddit suggests that it is his Six Eyes that is going to make a comeback. It makes sense when considering that Yuta Okkotsu is a distant relative of Gojo's and is still alive, which means that he might be able to have an offspring who inherits Six Eyes.

This fits with the notion that just as more Curses are going to return in the future, the Six Eyes will come back as well. It is also fitting that Satoru Gojo dies, which is a common trope in battle shonen where the older teacher retires or outright gets killed, which is something that makes a lot of sense when considering his character and the role he has in this story.

Moreover, Gojo was always concerned with the idea of Jujutsu society relying too much on him and wanted to create a new generation that could do better and fix the mistakes of their seniors. In that regard, the birth of a new person with the Six Eyes could work as a passing of the torch, which fits with the series' overarching themes.

Why Gojo shouldn't return

The death of Satoru Gojo was one of the most shocking moments in the entirety of Jujutsu Kaisen and a scene that continues to divide the fandom to this very day. There are a lot of people who believe his death against Ryomen Sukuna was necessary for the plot, while there are others who think that his end was handled poorly by mangaka Gege Akutami.

Moreover, his death was necessary for the story to give greater focus to the likes of Yuji Itadori and other characters in the final battle. Gojo was always seen as the solution to every problem in the series, so when he was killed by Sukuna, the tension was raised and there was no clear way for him to be defeated, which made things a lot more exciting.

Final thoughts

There is a good chance that the next Six Eyes user is going to be shown in Jujutsu Kaisen at some point. However, this almost confirms that Satoru Gojo is not going to be brought back to life, which is something that may disappoint a lot of fans.
