One Piece chapter 1117 was released on June 17, 2024, and the chapter featured the return of some Krieg Pirates. Out of all the big names of this pirate crew, Gin becomes the talk of the town.

Gin was the pirate who Sanji fed when the latter was a sous chef at the Baratie restaurant. Due to his kindness, Gin couldn't kill Sanji when his captain ordered him to. The fight ended with losing the Krieg Pirates and Gin claimed that he would meet Luffy again on the Grand Line.

With his return to the series after almost a thousand chapters, it can be said that Gin could cross paths with the Straw Hat Pirates again, but the main question that arises is why he is on Hachinose Island. His return could make him the narrator of one of the series' biggest incidents and even make him a potential opponent of a Blackbeard Pirate.

Gin is the Combat Commander of the Krieg Pirates, otherwise known as the Man-Demon, as revealed by his crew's captain, Don Krieg. The crew set sail on the Grand Line and to their bad luck, crossed paths with the warlord Mihawk. The warlord utterly defeated the crew and destroyed their ship.

Gin was separated from his crew and while he tried to return from the Grand Line, he was captured by Marine officers. The ship of these Marine officers docked at Baratie restaurant, where Gin escaped from the ship and entered the restaurant demanding food.

As he had no money, he was beaten by the chefs until he crossed paths with Sanji. Sanji offered him free food because he knew what hunger felt like. He then returned to his friends and bought them for Baratie. Unfortunately, the ungrateful Don Krieg decided to take over Baratie after the restaurant fed him.

The battle broke between them, and the Straw Hat Pirates joined as they were also there. Don Krieg tried to kill Sanji but Gin interred and claimed that he was the only one who could kill the chef. These two fought, and Gin was unable to kill his benefactor, who offered him food. Eventually, Luffy defeated Don Krieg.

Before the Krieg Pirates again sailed towards the Grand Line, Gin told Sanji to tell Luffy that they would meet again on the Grand Line. This was the last appearance of Gin before his reappearance in One Piece chapter 1117. So, what could have happened after the Krieg Pirates left the Baratie restaurant?

As Mihawk destroyed their ship, the Krieg Pirates could have first entered Water 7 after the rescue of Nico Robin by the Straw Hats. They could have bought a ship and set sail as a proper pirate crew. As the Straw Hat Pirates were ahead of them, the Krieg Pirates could have arrived at every destination after the events the Straw Hats experienced, which included the Marineford War of One Piece.

As Blackbeard Pirates escaped after the entry of Shanks, they could have crossed paths with the Krieg Pirates. The former pirates could have taken the latter crew alongside them to their headquarters, the Hachinose Island. This island was also where one of the biggest incidents of the Grand Line took place, the Rocky Port Incident.

The Rocky Port is a sight at Hachinose Island where during the time skip, Trafalgar Law arrived and seized the hearts of 100 pirates to gain the status of a warlord. One of these 100 pirates could be Gin. Later, during the battle between Law and Blackbeard during the Egghead arc of One Piece, the latter revealed that the 100 pirates Law used were all protected at Hachinose Island.

This made more sense as to why these pirates are at the Hachinose Island in chapter 1118. Gin's encounter with Luffy on the Grand Line could see him narrate what happened during the Rocky Port incident.

Gin, a potential member of the D clan

Monkey D Garp is one of the strongest members of the Marine Corps and refuses to accept the title of Admiral. While most fans believe this could be due to him not accepting the Marines as justice-makers, the real reason could be that he doesn't want to showcase his real identity as a 'D' member to the world.

Just like Garp, Gin could also be a member of the D clan, considering how he is staying under the leadership of Don Krieg, who seems weaker than Gin. But Gin could also be a man of 'checkered fate,' a concept revealed by the Five Elders when they were discussing Sabo, who the D members always surrounded.

Gin meeting Monkey D Luffy on Baratie, clashing against Trafalgar D Water Law during the Rocky Port Incident, and currently under the custody of Marshall D Teech, Gin could either be someone with a 'checkered fate' or someone who is not aware of his truth as a member of the D clan.
