Jujutsu Kaisen has become one of the most renowned series in recent years, and Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto, despite not being the protagonists, play a crucial role in the series as their very existence significantly impacts the show's universe. Known as the strongest sorcerer of the present era in jujutsu society, Gojo's birth disrupted the balance of the jujutsu world.

Canonically, it has been repeatedly emphasized how his birth caused curses to become more rampant, growing stronger, and the emergence of new, extremely powerful curses. In contrast, Geto was born with a Cursed Technique that allows him to ingest curses. This contrast between the two friends’ Cursed Techniques has led to theories linking Gojo and Geto’s very existence.

Some fans speculate that Gojo’s birth may have caused Geto to exist with the Cursed Spirit Manipulation, a Cursed Technique he himself repulses. Thus, Gojo might have inadvertently cursed Geto from birth, intertwining their fates.

Jujutsu Kaisen may have indicated Geto and Gojo’s fated connection since their birth

Jujutsu Kaisen fans are well aware of the deep bond and friendship between Suguru Geto and Satoru Gojo, with Gojo often referring to Geto as his only best friend. However, a popular theory suggests that Gojo and Geto may have been connected by fate since birth.

The narrative shows how Gojo’s existence disrupted the balance of the jujutsu world, causing curses to grow stronger and leading to the emergence of new powerful special-grade curses like Mahito, Jogo, Dagon, and Hanami. Geto, born just two months after Gojo, possesses a Cursed Technique that allows him to ingest curses, a power that contrasts with Gojo’s ability to exorcise them.

These speculations suggest that Gojo’s birth influenced Suguru Geto’s existence, specifically his Cursed Energy, to restore balance in the jujutsu world. Mangaka Gege Akutami may have foreshadowed this deeper connection that the two share throughout the narrative of Jujutsu Kaisen.

Possible indications pointing to a fated connection between Gojo and Geto originating from their existence

These theories propose that Gojo’s immense Cursed Energy disrupted the balance of the jujutsu world, necessitating the birth of Geto with a Cursed Technique capable of manipulating and consuming curses.

Examining their backgrounds, Gojo was born on December 7, 1989, and Geto followed on February 3, 1990, only about two months later. Notably, Geto hails from a family with no history or records of sorcerers, making his special-grade Cursed Technique highly unusual. Even Master Tengen referred to Geto’s existence as an anomaly, as mentioned in Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 145.

Geto had mentioned that his own Cursed Technique repulses him. The theory indicates that his body might not have been naturally suited for it but was made so to make up for the increased number of curses.

As Gojo's power grew, the strength and number of curses also increased to maintain balance. Consequently, Geto’s Cursed Spirit Manipulation became invaluable for sorcerers, as it allowed them to consume and recycle curses for further use.

As Gojo also grew stronger, the curses also became stronger and more vile. Therefore, Geto had to consume increasingly strong, vicious, and worse kinds of curses over time. Analyzing these facts, it becomes clear that while Gojo expelled curses, Geto consumed and recycled them, thus preserving the natural balance and order of the jujutsu world.

Geto mentioned in the narrative how this process took a toll on his mental state, describing the taste of curses as “a rag used to wipe up vomit,” which eventually contributed to his downfall. This aspect of his character suggests that Geto was doomed from the beginning, as his fate was to endure this burden. Perhaps this explains why Kenjaku kept his eyes on Geto, also noted by Tengen in chapter 145.

These details suggest that Gojo’s birth necessitated the existence of someone capable of absorbing the darkness created by Gojo’s brilliant light. Geto, born with a Cursed Technique he loathed, was the one to consume this darkness.

To conclude

Although this connection between Gojo and Geto’s birth and existence remains unconfirmed canonically, Jujutsu Kaisen’s narrative consistently weaves its characters together in intricate ways of fate.

Considering these realities, it can be said that Gojo inadvertently cursed Geto from birth, and Gege Akutami has likely hinted at this throughout the story.
