Jujutsu Kaisen from mangaka Gege Akutami is a dark fantasy series that seems to have it all. Viewers are treated to breathtaking action, mind-bending twists and references, politics, complex abilities and techniques, moral ambiguity, friendship, loss, loyalty, mentorship, and sacrifice.

However, one of the themes that has been seemingly absent is romance. While it may have been hinted at in certain parts of the series, there is no concrete evidence or plot points that truly establish it as a key theme. Nonetheless, that hasn't deterred fans from pairing up characters.

Yuta-Maki, Megumi-Hana, Gojo-Utahime, etc. are all popular ships that leave fans giddy with excitement. Alongside, many have also shipped Gojo with Shoko Ieiri. However, a Gojo "relationship chart" reveals that that ship wouldn't sail, and here's why.

Jujutsu Kaisen: Gojo's "relationship chart" shows why Gojo-Shoko ship wouldn't work

Gojo Satoru is arguably Jujutsu Kaisen's most popular face and name in the present day. Nearly everyone, both fans and non-fans of the series, knows who Gojo is. With everything that has been revealed about him, there has always been a concern about who his heart belongs to. While many thought it may have been Utahime or Shoko, a recently surfaced "relationship chart" shows otherwise.

It details the characters in Gojo's life and how they view him and vice versa. To begin with, he shares a teacher-student relationship with both the First and Second Years, caring for them deeply. Alternatively, Gakuganji feels he is a "brat" while Kusakabe thinks he is unsuited for teaching. Moreover, Nanami and Utahime have a more friendly relationship with him, with Ichiji being someone he truly trusts.

Haibara, and likely Yuki, were upperclassmen to him. Mei Mei was seemingly a source of extra work. Toji and Miguel were foes, the latter later being tasked with mentoring Yuta. Misato and Riko were folks he couldn't save, which changed him completely. He didn't think much of the Curses (Hanami and Jogo), viewed Sukuna as strong, and likely saw Kenjaku as the imposter who stole his best friend's body.

With that clear, this leaves just 2 more individuals— Suguru Geto and Shoko Ieiri. As for Geto, there is no need to explain the kind of relationship they shared and the effect Geto's defection had on Gojo. In Shoko's case, matters might be a little complex. Firstly, the series has not indicated whatsoever that there was or is a budding romance between Gojo and Shoko.

From the very beginning, Gojo saw her as a classmate, a member of his 3-man squad and Shoko probably did the same. Sometime recently, there was a mistranslation where it looked like Shoko admitted to having feelings for Gojo or Geto. But Akutami was quick to resolve that. While many might argue that Gojo and Shoko, part of the same time, spent lots of time together which would fuel a possible relationship, the answer is still negative.

Gojo never displayed or harbored such feelings for her. It was the same for Shoko. Shoko did love Gojo and Geto, but platonically. The trio was a squad and she cared for them as teammates do. But there are absolutely no romantic feelings involved.

Further, Akutami updated Shoko's character description with "Would never love Gojo or Geto," which made things clear. Even so, the events of Gojo's past made him focus solely on preparing the next generation.
