Dragon Ball voice actor for the English dub, Sean Schemmel, most commonly associated with voicing Goku, was recently shown on Dr. Applesauce's YouTube channel vouching for author Akira Toriyama. This is because some fans have stated that the idea of Daima turning the protagonist and friends into kids was repetitive, since the GT series already had it, but Schemmel disagreed.
Schemmel explained that the Dragon Ball author has a natural talent for taking older ideas and reshaping them in a way that is fresh and exciting for audiences. He used the examples of Frieza's resurrection in Super, and the one involving Cell for the Super Hero movie, emphasizing that fans should give Daima a chance and add further praise to the mangaka and his everlasting legacy in the industry.

Dragon Ball English voice actor Sean Schemmel vouches for Akira Toriyama's input on Daima and Super
Sean Schemmel, the English voice of Goku for several decades now, was recently on Dr. Applesauce's YouTube channel and was vocal in his support for author Akira Toriyama and his writing style. He praised the author's sense of humor and comedic timing, while also highlighting a major virtue— Toriyama's ability to take older ideas from the franchise and reshape them into something fresh and entertaining.
The voice actor cited the examples of Frieza's resurrection and a new variation of Cell in the Super sequel as evidence that Toriyama could inject fresh life into older concepts. He also stated that he understands why fans would feel a bit skeptical regarding the idea of Goku turning into a kid again in Daima, but that fans should give it a chance considering the mangaka's track record.
He also revealed that he has no idea whether the Super anime is coming back or not, although he said he would like for the project to come back and be a part of it once again. Schemmel took the time to be thankful for Toriyama's contributions to the world of anime and manga, stating that the only reason he is sitting there talking is because the legendary author chose to create this series.
Reactions online
The general perception in the Dragon Ball fandom is that Schemmel has a good point, and the great reviews that Daima has had thus far seem to validate that notion. The vast majority of fans have praised this new series' animation, the expansion of lore such as the growth of the Demon Realm, and the overall return to the adventure portion of the series rather than focusing just on combat.
The fans also seem to agree with the voice actor's opinion that Super should return to anime format at some point, especially considering there are two main manga arcs that could be adapted, the Moro and Granolah arcs. Considering the quick success of the Daima series thus far, it would make sense that these arcs are going to be adapted at some point.
"Nothing but facts here. Toriyama gave his own take on Broly and it was great, so i'm excited to see his take on the GT concept too!" someone said.
"An old concept and make it fresh is true. 3 body snatchers, 2 villains who’s plan is prison break out, 2 villains who turn people into food, etc," another person said.
"W man Sean Schemmel. I believe DB super will come back when the time is right!" someone else said.
There is no certainty when Dragon Ball Super is going to return in anime format but Toei Animation can take the positive reception of Daima and Schemmel's comments as a sign of good reception.
Conclusion
Although there is no official confirmation for the sequel Dragon Ball Super, Goku's VA vouched for Toriyama's vision regarding his work. Daima has stood up to the fans' expectations despite the initial disappointment before its release. Sean's words could also mean that a sequel to Super might very well be in the work. All fans can do is trust Toriyama's works which have never failed to entertain.
