One Piece chapter 1135 is set to be released on January 6, 2025, but the raw scans for the chapter have already been revealed. The chapter shows the giants sharing a hand of friendship with the Straw Hat Pirates as both groups exchange a cup of sake. In the chapter's climax, Giant Jarul enters the party, and this makes a big reveal that might spell doom for the giants.

As seen in the raw scans, Giant Jarul is double the size of normal giants like Dorry, hinting that the giants' size might be reduced with the passing of generations. This may be due to the increase in giant-human marriages, which also hints at the decrease in size of the Ancient Giants that went from humungous Oars to the current Yamato.

One Piece chapter 1135: Why the reducing sizes of giants might be an indicator of a future calamity

One Piece chapter 1135 raw scans climaxed with the Straw Hat Pirates, accompanied by Dorry and Brogy, gathering in an Elbaph Village. There, the giants honored the Straw Hats for their help in the past by sharing 'Camaraderie Cups' with them (similar to the 'Sazazuki' ritual).

After their cheers ended, another giant entered the village. This giant was Elder Beard Jarul, one of the founders of the Giant Pirates, who was more than 400 years of age. The giant had a sword sticking through his head, which worried Luffy.

When he arrived, Brogy stood beside him and showcased how gigantic the older giant was. This hinted that the sizes of giants might be decreasing with the passing of generations.

Another hint of this speculation is given in One Piece, chapter 1135, in which Colon reveals that his mother (giant) was married to a pirate (human). So, this cross-marriage might lead to the future giants being no bigger than the average human size and might see the World Government invading Elbaph Island without any worries.

Oda's scaling when designing characters

Like most of the mysteries of One Piece, Eiichiro Oda has been secretive about the scaling of his characters, where races (other than humans) marry humans. A prime example of this is the Ancient Giants.

The Ancient Giants (more commonly referred to as the 'Oni Tribe') is a group of giants that have horns and unusual skin tones. There have been secretive details about this clan, and the author has hinted at it in a Vivre Card volume (mentioning Little Oars Junior as an Ancient Giant). Similar to Little Oars, Kaido and Yamato might also be a part of this clan.

As seen from their character designs, the size of Ancient Giants might also be decreasing with the passing generation (with Yamato being more-or-less equal to the size of a human). So, the decreasing size of the giant might be related to the decrease in the size of the Oni clan.

Final thoughts

Take this article with a huge grain of salt, as it speculates the future scaling of characters. Oda's character designs have been 'ambiguous' due to the same thing, so speculating this scaling might never exceed the 'theory' title until there is some official confirmation from the source material.
