The Boruto fanbase is gearing up for chapter 14, which is scheduled to be released on September 20, 2024. The spoilers from the upcoming chapter have been circulating on various social media platforms and forums. However, the entirety of the chapter has not been leaked at the time of writing, giving fans room to craft fan theories based on chapter 13.

One particular fan theory is quite interesting as it talks about the involvement of a character that was sidelined in the manga quite some time ago. A few elements in the recent chapters hinted at this character’s return, and new pieces of evidence seemed to have cropped up to support the statement.

The character in question is none other than Orochimaru, one of the three Legendary Sannin. The theory hinges on certain details from the recent Two Blue Vortex chapters and his access to his son’s memories.

Disclaimer: This article contains massive spoilers from the manga chapters.

Boruto fan theory explains Orochimaru’s return and his contribution to fighting the Shinju

Orochimaru was one of the antagonists in the original Naruto series, but things changed in the sequel series. His role throughout the original series was quite conflicting; he was once hailed as a member of the Legendary Sannin alongside Jiraiya and Tsunade. Once hailed as a prodigy, the death of many close ones in his life made him pursue a twisted. However, by the end of Naruto, he had come to help his village and redeem himself.

He also became a father and decided to help Konohagakure in any way he could. In his earlier days, he had a good relationship with Sasuke Uchiha since he was going to use the young shinobi as his vessel.

Despite everything that happened, fans would like to believe that the two had a decent relationship following Naruto’s ascension to the title of Hokage. One of the first hints that fans were given about Orochimaru’s potential return was the location that Boruto and Kashin Koji chose as their hideout. The hideouts belonged to Orochimaru back when he performed various experiments for selfish reasons.

Furthermore, the latest chapter spoilers featured a panel wherein Kashin Koji and the protagonist looked into the distance, anticipating someone’s presence. This panel raised some eyebrows among fans, and the community believes that Orochimaru could return to the series.

Given that it is his hideout, the former Legendary Sannin would be able to surveil such a place and take note of any activity that takes place. Furthermore, Orochimaru is probably aware of Sasuke’s condition, and he could perform his own research on how to undo the seal. The reason he would have gotten suspicious in the first place can be linked to Mitsuki’s memories.

He can access his son’s memories, and Eida’s Omnipotence would have caused massive inconsistencies. Three years is enough time for someone like Orochimaru to get a hold of what was happening in the village and take necessary action.

Furthermore, Kashin Koji is a clone of Jiraiya, someone who was a part of the Legendary Sannin trio. Orochimaru’s return and his collaboration with Kashin Koji is in some way poetic. Masashi Kishimoto is capable of writing the story in such a manner. Therefore, there is a high chance that Orochimaru could help Kashin Koji and Boruto undo Sasuke Uchiha’s seal.

This could, in turn, set off a chain reaction as Sasuke’s return will mark the village’s all-out war against the Shinju. Someone like Orochimaru would be considered a valuable asset. With his genius and understanding of different kinds of jutsus, he can likely find a way to rescue the shinobi trapped by the Divine Trees and help finish off the Shinju effectively.

However, it is important to note that this is a fan theory, and we urge the fanbase to patiently wait for the upcoming set of chapters to confirm it.
