High School DxD season 5 has been on the anime community's radar for a while now, with several rumors circulating regarding the sequel's production. According to the post, the franchise will continue in all forms, not just novels. In other words, the anime is more than likely to continue and grace fans with the fifth season.

Apart from the post, the official staff has been active of late, mainly because of the ongoing High School DxD spin-off, titled the Junior High School DxD's serialization. Besides, the staff announced this year that the main light novel series has sold over 7.8 million copies worldwide. After updating fans about the light novel series' immense success, with 7.8 million copies in circulation, the staff revealed that the franchise will continue its run in all forms, not just the novels. From the staff's comment, it's evident that the anime will continue.

That said, some insider sources from reputed animanga news leakers suggested a 2024 release window for High School DxD season 5. However, it didn't happen and the official staff never provided a conclusive update about it.

Now, the official confirmation regarding the franchise's continuation was made only seven months ago. With that in mind, there's a high possibility that the fifth season might be in the pre-production stage. Therefore, the staff could make an official announcement sooner rather than later about the High School DxD season 5.

It will likely take at least a year or so for the production studio to do justice to the source material (if everything goes according to the studio's plan) and animate the Ichiei Ishibumi's exhilarating narrative. The first volume was released on May 17, 2024, with the second volume slated to be released on November 20, 2024.

While it's unlikely for the staff to announce an update regarding the main series' anime adaptation now, with them celebrating the release of the spin-off series' second volume, they could still do it to grab fans' attention. It could be a solid way to boost the marketing for the spin-off series, all the while heightening the anticipation for season 5.
