The Honey Lemon Soda anime will be a direct adaptation of the Honey Lemon Soda manga, written and illustrated by Mayu Murata. The series first began publication in December 2015 in Shueisha's Ribon magazine and is currently ongoing, with over 70 chapters compiled into 27 individual volumes. Only the first 9 volumes have been officially translated and published in English by Yen Press.
The series primarily falls under the Shoujo genre, reflected in its unique art style. The story follows Uka Ishimori as she navigates her feelings for Kiu Miura while working to improve her social skills after being bullied throughout middle school.
Uka Ishimori will be voiced by Kana Ichinose, who recently voiced Fern in Frieren: Beyond Journey's End. Kiu Miura will be voiced by Shougo Yano, mainly known for his role as Mafuyu Satou in the Given series. The anime will be produced by J.C. Staff, the studio confirmed to animate seasons 2 and 3 of One Punch Man.
Hiroshi Nishikiori, who previously contributed to storyboarding for the DanMachi series and directed episode 8 of Dandadan, will serve as the director of the Honey Lemon Soda anime.
