Dragon Ball DAIMA has finally dropped its first two episodes after a long interval. The last bit of Dragon Ball content we received was Dragon Ball Super before the franchise went silent. But now towards the latter of 2024, Toei Animation has returned with another addition to the mega-popular franchise, Dragon Ball DAIMA.

The story seems to have taken a unique route with DAIMA, featuring our beloved Z Fighters as adorable little children. Just 2 episodes in and the actions have already kicked off. But before delving in, fans began to wonder - How did Goku become a child?

Demon King Gomah used Earth's Dragon Balls to turn Goku and his friends into children. Continue reading for further details.

Son Goku and his friends, the Z Fighters, became children at the beginning of Dragon Ball DAIMA episode 2. As mentioned, the Demon King Gomah used the Dragon Balls on Earth to wish for Goku and the others to turn into children. The reason for this is quite hilarious and sets the stage for an entirely new side of Dragon Ball to be explored, i.e., the Demon Realm.

To add a little context, Gomah and Degesu were residents of the Demon Realm. As they watched events unfold on Earth, they learned of Demon King Dabura's death, which meant that Gomah was the new king. However, witnessing the power of Goku and his friends made him uneasy. So, he devised a plan to somehow weaken them and turn them into children.

Along with his aide Degesu and the old Namekian Neva, the trio set off to Earth in an attempt to use its Dragon Balls. They successfully collect 7 Dragon Balls, summoning Shenron but being afforded only a single wish. King Gomah wished Son Goku to be turned into first graders (6 to 7 years old as per the Japanese system) and the kids (Goten, Trunks, Dende) into babies.

Dragon Ball DAIMA has been set after the Majin Buu Saga. Following an intense battle against Kid Buu, the Z Warrior kicked back for a much-needed rest and were celebrating Trunks' 9th birthday party. The events of this saga terrified Gomah how powerful Goku was and in an attempt to protect the Demon Realm from being possibly invaded, did what he did.

As mentioned previously, the new series begins just after the Majin Buu Saga. This implies that Goku is as strong as he was till that point. He definitely has access to the Super Saiyan form and his martial arts skills are as sharp as ever. He was also able to retrieve his truly Nyoibo, the red Power Pole he wielded during his younger years.

The only issue which he seemed to have was the lack of control of his new body. Having been used to his original body, his new form throws off his sense of reach and ability to fly. But that was a minor setback as we almost immediately jumped back into training and got a considerable feel of the new body.
